Need help from you veteran cruisers. We have sailed on the Magic twice. Both times we had a category 6 with verandah. That room (from this June 2002) has increased $1500 for the same room June 2004. I am now considering a category 9 because it is just more affordable. Has anyone else done this? I will miss my verandah but at this point I just feel lucky to be able to go..................any opinions on whether I should save a little harder for the 6 or be happy with the 9. Thanks for your advice....I learn more here than anywhere else.:D

I have sailed on both the Wonder and Magic in Category 9 and will be sailing again THIS year also in Category 9. All three times were/will be in the same room - 2064.

I love my category 9. Of course, never having had a veranda, I don't know what I am missing but I'm not anxious to find out. The room is large and spacious and I love the large porthole. We didn't find it inconvenient as far as getting to and from and the hallway was quiet. And I would much rather save my money to spend on other things.

I say, give it a try. The best part of cruising in the cruise itself, not the room. IMO.

DW and I love the cat 9 staterooms, since we get a great deal with FL res discount...

Our preference is a stateroom aft, 2114 and 2120...we like this location b/c of the proximity to the aft elevators...the least used and quietest...also aft is nearest to all the venues we use most...AP, PC, Flounders Reef, Topsiders, deck 9 bev station...

However, there are some deck 2 staterooms that are considered noisy, as indicated in Daves website dcltribute.com...although 2114 did make the list, I will vouch for it's quietness.

My wife and I love category 9 rooms, on the second level of the ship. We most recently stayed last September in room 2566, and loved it. It was close to the midship elevators and stairs. We were also within stair walking distance from the restraunts, nightclubs, etc. Very nice not to have to wait for an elevator.

The portholes are large, the rooms are the same size as the verandah rooms (of course with the exception of the high dollar rooms), and everything was very nice.

We like the Cat9 as well. Last July was our first cruise and we were in 2590. This year we will be staying in a Cat6 so I can't comment on the difference. On thing that we were concerned about going to the Cat6 was the view out the window while sitting in the cabin. We would sit on the sofa and have cocktails or coffee and watch the ocean zip by. If we are not more thrilled with the Cat6, we will be right back in a deck 2 Cat9 for sure.

Enjoy your cruise!!! :)

We have two rooms (2648/2650). Anyone have any info. on these. I saw on the davis site they are in the "your mileage will vary/slightly noisy. Any info. would be appreciated.

Also, how do I get the nifty countdown on my posts.

Thanks

Jim
