Origionally we had planned to sail the western carribbean summer of 2005. Oh well!!!! We really have no interest in the california trip soooo---- we have decided at the last minute to sail this summer instead!!!!! What a price difference when you don't book early!!!!! Anyway---we are trying to squeeze this trip into our budget a year early and wondered if we would be happy in a category 8 or 9. What is the difference between to two--- also--how are the inside rooms---we have enjoyed the navigator veranda rooms before -- anyone tried an inside room after a veranda room and been happy? We don't spend much time in the room at all and thought that a change in category would save us money--- thanks Jill

I've stayed in category 9 room before. I haven't stayed on a Disney Verandah, but have on Royal Caribbean, Princess and Norwegian Cruise Lines. I prefer the category 9. I went on a DVC member cruise in 2002. when I got through all was sold out except the Category 9 or below. I took it. I was so pleased we are leaving Saturday for a week and we requested category 9, outside cabin with a large window. I sure do not think you'll be disappointed!

I've done regular verandas, navigator verandas, and a cat 8.

I don't think there is any difference in a cat 8 or 9 except for location. Cat 8 on the upper decks, Cat 9 on decks 1 & 2 (note if you are in a Cat 9 on deck 1 you will have 2 small portholes not the one big one).

I really liked our Cat 8, but it was a 4 day cruise (the DVC Member Cruise). For the 7 days or longer I really prefer a veranda.

Personal opinion only - I don't think I would like an inside room. We do like to relax on our cruises and that does mean some room time. To me there is nothing better than spending time out on the veranda.

The first cruise we did the cat. 9 and loved it. Last cruise we did a cat. 7, navigators verandah, and loved it as well. In Sept. we have a cat. 7 again (same cabin!). It would be hard to go back to not having a verandah BUT if $ were the issue, I would be very happy with a 9 again!:sunny:
