Just received an e-mail today for a FL Res. Rate promotion that is very good, but limits you to only a a cabin in Category 9. The majority of these are on Deck 2, but some are on Deck 1. We've only ever stayed on Decks 5 & 6, so I don't really know anything about the decks lower than these.

Can anyone who's stayed on either of these decks please give me some pros/cons to these staterooms? I did look at the photos on the castaway website & see that they have either one large porthole (Deck 2) or two small ones (Deck 1).

Thank you. :D

WE JUST STAYED IN ROOM 2550 ON THE MAGIC IN SEPT. CAT 9. DECK 2.
NICE BRIGHT ROOM, CLOSE TO STAIRS. USUALLY WE STAY ON DECK 5. IT WAS MORE WALKING UP AND DOWN AND THE WAIT FOR THE ELEVATOR WAS LONG. BEING LOWER TO THE WATER DIDN'T BOTH US. GO FOR IT.

We had Cat 9, Deck 1 and really liked it. Would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed in 2528 in September. Have booked 2526 for next year. Loved the location and our room was quiet.

I wouldn't hesitate to take a Cat 9 on deck 2 again. I never missed the verandah I had the prior cruise. I found it just as quite and very convenient.

I'm a deck 2 fan as well. Stayed in 2518 and have 2510 for my next cruise.

Regarding the elevator, it was typically empty by the time it got to deck 2 which was nice.

We have also stayed in a cat9 on deck 2. I thought it was just as nice as the verandah rooms.

Is the port hole submerged? How is the view. I just booked 2104.

Wouldn't *that* be cool? :)

The portholde is higher above the water than you'd think.

See this picture? Deck 2 is the bottom row of visible portholes. Deck 3 is a row above it just below the yellow line, then you have deck 4 just under the lifeboats and right above the yellow line. There's a row of smaller portholes on deck 1, but they aren't visible in this picture.

Deck 1 is basically level with the pier but still somewhat higher than the water line.

Thank you so much for the explanation with pictures! I needed that! LOL

I know it's a ship not a sub! :p
