Hi Everyone!

I am new to cruising, so I know nothing about cabins that I haven't seen on the Love Boat.

We recently got our cruise docs, and found we are in a Category 9 stateroom on Deck 1, apparently 2 decks below the night clubs. Should I be worried? To a newbie, looking at the deck plans, Deck 1 looks pretty isolated, like it is in the basement. My DH says I should be happy we were upgraded from Cat 11, but although we will spend little time in our rooms, I have a 3 yo DD who will be really cranky if she is kept up all night by really loud noise.

Anybody have info on Stateroom 1034?

Thanks!!!:smooth:

Hi Katie,
We will be on Deck 1 as well for the March 22 Magic. Our first cruise on Disney we had a Cat 6 with a verandah, which I enjoyed. I did post earlier about deck on, and got some positive feedback about it. Deck 1 is where we get on and off for excursions, so there will be no waiting for elevators or fighting the crowds on the stairs. Also, I heard nothing at all about it being noisy.

I think we will all LOVE our cruise.. we really did not spend all that much time in the room anyway...

Deck 1 is a VERY quiet deck, noise will not be a problem at all. Your only difference is instead of one LARGE porthole window you will have two smaller porthole windows. But your room itself is exactly the same as the Deck 2 Cat. 9s. Enjoy your cruise! :)

I was in 1072 for my cruise last year and actually enjoyed the location! We found it to be very quiet and convenient.

We have had cabins on Deck 1....1042 thru 1050 (large group). We found the location wonderful....you DO NOT feel like you are in a basement!!! Every hallway on DCL looks basically identical...you would not be able to tell the difference stepping out of a Deck 1 cabin or a Deck 8 cabin.

The BEST part of Deck 1 is the ease in which you can get on and off the ship at each port. While everyone is struggling to get to the elevators for upper decks, you just walk on by down the hall to you cabin....it is wonderful!!!!

You are also just a few steps away from the atrium and dining rooms/shopping.

You guys are great! Now I'm really excited! The portholes shouldn't be an issue-we won't be spending much time in our cabin. Now that I think about it, the Passporter did say that it was "Somewhat noisy on port days", which makes sense after reading your posts. Since we, too will be going ashore, that is not a prob!

Thanks for the photo link too!

I'm so excited!

WE WERE IN A CAT 9 ON DECK 2 FOR OUR LAST CRUISE AND OTHER THAN ONE NIGHT AND THE DAY WE DOCKED AT CC WE DIDN'T HEAR MUCH NOISE AT ALL. THE NOISE ON CC DAY ONLY MADE US GO AHEAD AND GET UP SO WE WOULDN'T MISS ANYTHING. YOU SHOULD BE FINE ON EITHER DECK.;)

OK, I get to rant now! My DH called DCL because our names on our cruise docs was spelled wrong, and he wanted make sure it wouldn't be a prob. During the conversation, he asked about the room, and the noise. The customer service person asked if he would like a change. he said "Absolutely not, just asking." then he reiterated that he wanted no stateroom change.

We got home last night, and there was a message on our machine saying that "per our request", we had been changed to a cat 10 inside stateroom!! When we called back, they there is nothing they can do-but put us on a waiting list!!

Has anybody had a bad experience with Disney reservations? Any advice?? :(
