We are booked on the 12/18/04 10 day cruise on the Magic. When we booked in March, category 8 was not available so we booked a category 9. Today when I called they offered a guaranteed category 8 unspecified room. What should I do? I'm concerned about a category 8 unspecified, what are the chances that I'll get a room that is noisy, etc. as compared to a deck 2 midship room.

Does anyone know of any category 8 rooms to avoid? Does anyone else have experience with the unspecified room guarantee?

Thanks for your help.

Assuming the upgrade is free, I'd take it personally. If there's a charge, I'd stick with my cat 9.

oops, forgot to mention, there is a $600 charge. thanks for your reply sam. I'd be anxious to hear anyone's else's thoughts as well.

Deck 2, midship is my favorite location. I always book a specific room. Personally I would be upset to get upgraded to a Cat. 8. Just my opinion. I love to be close to the water and the activities on deck 3 and the restaurants.

If the upgrade were free, I'd do it but not for $600.00!
Keep your cat. 9!

IMHO, keep the extra $600.00. Who doesn't need a little extra cash during the holidays? Especially when you are cruising! And besides, Deck 2, midship is a good location. Enjoy!:D

I've had both a Cat 9, Deck 2 midship and a Cat.7 on Deck 7 with the Navigator Veranda. I've just booked at Cat. 9 Deck 2 midship again. There is very little motion and the large porthole is perfect for me. The Cat. 8 rooms all seemed to be in locations that would have more motion.

I'm a deck 2 fan. No way would I pay +$600 just to have a higher deck.

Interesting that it was offered to you as a priced upgrade. I wonder if they're trying to have you pay for an upgrade that you (or someone else) might receive anyway?
