Category 6 Or Category 4? Is there a huge difference?

We're exploring the possibility of booking a cruise for spring break next year (2005). There are only 3 of us -- my DH, me, and my DS who will be 9 then. I have looked over the diagrams of the cabins, and it seems that there really isn't all that much difference between the category 4 family "suite" and the category 6 cabin (maybe 30 square feet of space??). Those of you who have booked either of these, were you happy with the space you had available?

We have stayed in a Cat 6 on our cruises. There's me, DW, 14yoDD and 12yo DS. We feel that is just enough room for us and can use the savings towards other cruise expenses. You will love the verandah which gives you some space.

Go with the 6 save the money ... for other things....

I have done both the 6 and the 4. If it's just 3 of you, the 6 is more than enough. THere is a nice little divider curtain between the bed and the sofa/bed for privacy. THe extra space in the 4 is for a murphy bed that pulls down from the wall. When my husband and I went by ourselves we stayed in a 6, and when we took our 3 children, we had the 4. Fortunately, our youngest was only 2 1/2, so we used a pack and play for her and never had to pull down the wall bed. I agree with the previous posts....save money and get the 6. Use the money you save for a spa treatment!!:cool1:

We've had the 4 before when there was 4 adults and 1 child (9), our next cruise which will be in about 40 days we are in a cat 6. Besides the price difference which is alot, it is also just one deck up from the kids clubs. A lot easier for your son to get to the room than walking all over the ship.

It is also about in the center of everything, either up or down, deck 3 or deck 9.

Go with the 6.

We have had a cat. 6 with DS11 and DS14. There is plenty of room. Save the money and go to the spa!

We just got off the boat and had a six. Our dining companions had a four. They said that deck eight was a little noisy - they could hear deck chairs and people with heels walking over their heads. We, on the other hand, were right off the aft elevator lobby - and it was surprisingly quiet - and wonderfully convienent to the restaurants and kids clubs

I agree with the other posters. The Cat 6 is plenty of room for three people (its DH, DS7 and myself). After our first cruise, we dropped from a Cat 5 to a Cat 6, the former being one deck higher. The cabins are identical but you save $200.

Save your $$ for pictures at shutters or drinks.

Honestly I would only recommend going with a Cat 4 if you had a child in a pack n play crib. The room is only longer by the length of the murphy bed (or a pack and play crib.) Without needing a crib in the room you will have PLENTY of room in the Category 6 room and can save the extra $$ is costs for the 4. You will be plenty happy in the Cat 6.
