Does anyone know if DCL has changed their policy about families of 4 booking Category 12 GTY cabins and automatically being upgraded? I haven't seen any offered for 2010 and haven't had any luck trying to book a Cat 12 for 4 passengers in 2009.

Just wondering if DCL took away that perk.........

Since there are only 13 category 12 cabins on each ship, I would imagine they book up pretty quickly. Have you tried booking three people in a cat 12, just to see if any show up?

Yes, they can be booked for less than 4 passengers. Although no Cat 12's have been available at all in 2010.

It has been my experience in the past that you could find Cat 12s. They do not all get sold out. It seems to me that DCL is either holding them back or has changed the ability to book 4 passengers in the Cat 12.

I'd be surprised if DCL completely quit allowing them to be booked for parties of 4. They historically use the Cat 12 category as a "hidden" way to offer discounts. If they need to fill a ship and allowing families of 4 to book Cat 12 cabins helps to make that happen, I'm sure they'll do it. Based on the way they priced the 2010 cruises, they clearly think their customers have plenty of money to spend, so maybe its not showing up a lot right now. :lmao:

Someone reported being told that no cat 12s were released when the 2010 opened up. Sounds like they are holding them back to help fill the ships with discounts later on.

I like that idea!!!! I would downgrade to a Cat 12 from a Cat 9 if it meant significant savings!!!

I got family of 5, two cat 12 rooms booked, 3 and 2 per cabin. Even if not together there are so few they are all practically next to each other, andHope for upgrade, very discounted price, 59% off!!!!

We booked a Cat 12 for our family of 4, and got upgraded to a Cat 10.
I think they sell more Cat 12 guarantees than they have Cat 12 cabins to
fill up the ship. But for 2010 sailings, they don't need to discount yet.

I did see some Cat 11 guarantees on one 2010 sailing. It's the cheapest way to get on the ship, and once you're there everyone is treated the same.

With two little kids, we actually preferred the inside cabin for dark nap times.

12s are not always available for a party of 4 to book. DCL only opens them to parties of 4 when they need to sell a lot of empty staterooms. Otherwise they will not come up as an option for a party of 4, just like the Category 7s which also only sleep 3. When DCL does open 12s to parties of 4 it means an automatic upgrade to an 11 but, again, it isn't always an option.
