Category 12 GTY, May, Sam's Club Questions

First of all, has anyone booked their cruise with Sam's Club? How was your experience?

Secondly, we may get a category 12, guarantee status. What's the chance we'd actually end up in cat 12?

Last, how busy are the mid-May cruises? How are our chances that we'd be able to upgrade at the port? (last time we upgraded from 11 to 5, in January)

I booked our Disney cruise through Sam's Club and was very impressed with the service. When it was time to book another cruise, I went right back to Sam's Club. I was also able to negotiate a little and they paid for our travel insurance. I'm sorry I can't help you with your other questions.

When you booked with Sam's, did you follow the same deposit & final payment procedure that Disney uses? Or do you have to pay it all upfront?

We paid the deposit upon booking and the final payment is due at the same time as Disney requires. If you haven't booked yet, definitely try to negotiate. See what they're willing to offer you. It certainly worked for us. Also, if you should cancel, Sam's does not charge you a cancellation fee. Good luck!

Other than travel insurance, what else is it okay to try to negotiate with them? Onboard credit? Would they do that?

It does appear that they have the cheapest cruise fare, so I think they'll be our best bet even without any incenitive.

I didn't book with Sam's Club, but I did get upgraded from a Cat. 12 Gty. We booked in December for our February cruise and were upgraded to Cat. 11. I know that isn't a huge deal but we ended up in a sideways room on Deck 5--I think I liked that set up much more than the traditional set up. As for the chances of getting the upgrade--I don't know. But it happened to us and we even booked late.
