If we are interested in Category 10, are these particularly good to try to get? What are the disadvantages, if any, as compared to lower decks like Deck 2?

Have you tried Deck 5??? These are the Best Cat 10s. If Deck 5 isn't available. I would probably try for Deck 7. Is is near almost everything you need.

Yes, I think Deck 5 will be the first place to try, but I was wondering if Deck 7 should be our second choice if the special rooms on Deck 5 are all taken.

I love being on Deck 7. You can just walk upstairs to Deck 9 and 10. It is also a short walk down the stairs to both the Buena Vista Theater on Deck 5 (aft) and to the Walt Disney Theater on Deck 4 (forward).

We had the same thoughts when we called Dec 31st to book our Nov 30th cruise. First we tried Cat 10 deck 5, then cat 10 deck 7. Both were taken so we have cat 10 on deck 2.
I was on the phone with Dave's list of rooms not to get. So at least we got one of the better rooms on deck 2. Thanks Dave

I think I saw the list on this site a few times, with some of his responses. Dave, where are you? We need the list again please

I found the list on several posts by putting "staterooms to avoid" into the search engine and limiting the search to this discussion board. It was very helpful. Thanks for the tip.

I had more than one question about the noise on Deck 2 while I maintained a "Let me answer your questions, 'live' from the Magic" thread (<a href="http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=38440">link</a>) during our 5/26 Magic cruise, so I went down to Deck 2 and did my own evaluation.

First of all, let me state that, for the majority of the rooms, Deck 2 is very quiet and you should have no problem staying there. But there are some zones where staterooms are near loud mechanical equipment (electrical lockers, transformer rooms, a/c equipment rooms, ship's propellers, cargo hatches, etc.).

So with the disclaimer that "your mileage may vary" and that you may be willing to put up with the "dull roar" in exchange for a good fare, these are the rooms that are in noisy zones:

<nl><li>2000 - 2004
<li>2032
<li>2036 - 2045
<li>2078 - 2085
<li>2088 - 2096
<li>2114 - 2129
<li>2139 - 2153
<li>2500 - 2520
<li>2534 - 2547
<li>2586 - 2600
<li>2626
<li>2630 - 2653</nl>

Also, on Deck 1, you might want to avoid 1030 - 1037.

The noise in these zones is not so loud that it would ruin your vacation, but if you are sensitive to noise, you would probably want to consider another room or be sure to bring earplugs to wear when you go to bed.

We stayed in 7509 last year and it was great. It is closer to the upper decks and not too far from the restaurants, shops, etc. I personally don't think that I would enjoy deck 2.

We stayed in a cat 8 on deck 7 on our last cruise and because of that booked a cat 10 on deck 7 (same general area, just across the hall) for our next one. I LOVED the location... it was so nice and quiet being practically at the end of the hall. As others have said, only two short flights of stairs up to the deck and the adult pool. The walt disney theater and the adult clubs are also very convenient.

I do have to say, though, that the ship felt a lot smaller than I expected it to and nothing really seemed very far away or inconvenient. Maybe it was just because we were in cruise mode but we loved walking around the ship :).

I do have this irrational discomfort about staying on one of the lower decks though, so I probably would not cruise on lower than deck 5, but that is just my own private neurosis.

just back from 4/20 cruise. Stayed deck 7, room7001. It was pefect. 2 decks under pool, convient to everything! I highly reccomend this room! (great price too!)

myjeep93 I have this same room booked for september. Was being at the very front of the ship a problem? I heard you feel the motion more.

We stayed in 6004 on the Wonder and did not feel much motion although the waves were only 6 feet on that cruise.
