Prior to today, I had not played HM in quite a long time, and playing today, I started to wonder about something.

When you're playing, do you intentionally go for opposing players who get turned into ghosts or do you let them be?

Personally, I try to not suck up opposing players. I think it's just sort of a courtesy issue. I get really annoyed when players spend the full ten seconds that I'm a ghost trying to chase me down instead of catching their own ghosts, so I try not to do that to other players. Plus, if I'm not going to get credits for it, it's not worth it. I play for credits, not to win, so I don't care if it helps my score :confused3

If I'm near them I will so they do not have to wait the 10 seconds to be able to get their ghosts- especially if there is a mixture of their ghosts with mine...

If I get ghosted I will sometimes go to a person but usually will just find the biggest group of my ghosts to go get...

If you catch the opposing team member when they are turned into a ghost, you will add on 2 ghosts to your score.

Yes. To the score. Not to your credits. You get no credits for them in the long run.

I do only when I need them to suck up their own ghosts so I can get to mine. :)

If I'm near one I will, but I never bother chasing them down. It wastes my time.

This sounds like the whole sit on the flag/sandbag fireworks issue rehashed for the Mansion. It is personal preference and strategy. It is true you get no credit for other players but they do add to your score. At times I will chase and other times I won't, If you chase me you can be sure if i can catch you I will. by the same token I am not going to waste time if you run away. There are strategical reasons to leave people unchanged and strategical reasons to change them back. Courtesy really has no place in the issue, except if someone is begging you to change them it might be polite to do so but remember unless the game is among friends it is a competition that different strategies will play out. Another point to remember is, if the other team catches less ghosts generally less of your ghosts will come out. Therefore fast changes will result in more ghosts in most cases. If you all are playing for creditthen just catch ghosts like mad and don't worry about it. Then When Fireworks takes its turn - Just hit what you can and play the whole game till your out, you get no credit for quiting.

I guess I don't care that much about winning...it's about getting credits.
So if I catch a person who is turned into a ghost...yes, I get a couple more points, but they get back to ghost catching quicker. It is funny when people run away from me when I am trying to help them get back to getting more points by being able to catch ghosts!

Unless they are right next to me I make no effort to get them. I see no point, not credits. Sometimes I will walk right by them and just leave them. I feel it's a bit more fair this way.

Yes I agree especially if the players are even. Strategy is what wins out. It is best to avoid being caught during the extra credits losing is still winning. But if you are even they catching the other player while they are a ghost might be the only way to win.

And Adventure is right the fastest turn around the more ghosts come out the more credits you get. I will not bother if there is less than 10 seconds left in the game and I am winning since they can can no more ghosts.

If I am playing with new players I will intentionally get turned into a ghost so they learn to shoot. And also will keep the sore fairly even. However I am not always aware of who is nnew. But if they have to have how to shoot then I play a much easier game for them.

It is no a matter of politeness it is a game of strategy.

I think it can be courtesy to actually catch them. I like being caught... it gives me more chance to catch my own ghosts. Although I won't chase them down across the room.

Same here. If they're right nearby I'll catch them so that they can go back to catching ghosts. I really don't care whether I win or not, getting enough ghosts to get some credits or to make the requirements for the driving pin is what I'm playing for. With the lag and my own inexperience at moving my character it would be a miracle if I won anyway. ;)

Yes, yes I do. Sometimes it's to get the +2 so the game can go 3 rounds (and more credits for everyone), sometimes it's to help them get back to catching ghosts.

On the flip side, if I'm down in ghosts and turn into one, I'll go to an opponent so they can turn me back. If I'm not down in ghosts, I'll run away.

Usually though, it's a courtesy thing. Help me help you. :)

I am with bopper (ppiglett) and a few others here on this one. If they are near I try to get them back in the game, If they run away then not. Like Allison, I go to them when I turn into a ghost. I don't need the win, I need the credits and assume the other player does too. Most of the time I play with friends so it is a given we help each other out. Mansion is really all about the fun anyway... GL!! :)

I usually go to an opposing team member when im a ghost so i can get sucked and start catching ghosts again.

Almost never. That's because when the other player is a ghost, they can't get ghosts themselves. So I let them be ghosts so I can score while they run around. People may not agree, but those are usually the people that don't end up in my vacuum :rotfl:
