HI!
Has anyone stayed in this room? What can you tell me about Catagory Four rooms and (if possible) this one? I think we are right under the Goofy Pool... is that noisy?
Thanks!
Amy

which is 4 doors down from the room you are speaking of and for US (only our opinion) it was NOISY! You could hear running, chairs sliding around and the sail away party went on and on and on. For the amount of money we spent for that room we felt it was a miserable experience and were thankful we were only on a 4 day cruise instead of a 7 in that room. Others say it was quiet and they didnt hear anything but we heard enough that we had to put our sound machine up full blast to block out noise. During the day our 3 year old needed to take a short nap and the running upstairs and chair scraping was ridiculous...to the point that he never once got a nap.

When we rebooked for this May we booked 2 rooms on deck 6 and hope that since it is not below the pool deck that it will be quieter.

I am sure others will say that they loved the location but our family HATED it.

YIKES!
Tell me more about your sound machine... what do you recommend? Our oldest sleeps like a log, but not so our youngest!
Any ideas?
Thanks
Amy

On our last 2 cruises we stayed in 8030 and our married children and their families stayed in 8028 & 8026. There were 4 of us in each room ranging in age from 8 months to 85 years old. Although you could hear an occaisional deck chair being moved or someone running, it was not any bother to anyone in our famly (my 80 year old mother and her 85 year old sister who we took with us are very light sleepers and they never had any noise problems). We found deck 8 to be the best location for us since it was only a quick one flight by stairs to deck 9 where most of the action took place. In addition the category 4 rooms are very roomy and our children and grandchildren loved them. They are terrific accomodations and you will love the room and the location on deck 8.

Thanks Howard!

We hope to have the same experience. How old were the kids you traveled with? Any elementary schoolers? Did your group use Flounders Reef (the baby nursery?)
Have a great day!

Amy

we were in 8534 which is also under a pool....or bandstand....
we were warned by others on the board before we cruised that it would be terribly noisy....
we were pleasantly surprised...
however, there was a bit of noise at around 4 in the morning, but of the 4 of us in the room, only i was woken by it....as it turned out i was happy to be awake as i got to go out on the verandah and watch the docking process.....

as for noise during the sailaway party, i have no idea....during the sailaway party i was at the sailaway party, not in my room....so i can't tell you if it was noisy or not...

I honestly can't remember hearing much noise, but we were all so exhausted that we slept like logs! Having an 8 YO and 11 YO it was very handy being so close to the pools, so the proximity to the "busy area" was a plus for us. Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.

Amy -
Our grandchildren were ages 3, 3 1/2, 5 and 8 (on the most recent cruise - last Nov) so we did not have any experience with Flounders Reef but all of the kids LOVED the clubs and spent a lot of time there. As I said before the family suites (category 4) are terrific and the verandah in your room will make your cruise even more special, especially early mornings and late at night.

We were in 8542 on the Magic last June. I cannot think of one time when we were bothered by outside noise. If there was a party on deck, we were there, not in our room. Even when we went back to our room while the party was still going on, we didn't hear anything. We never heard noises during the night either. It could be we were just so exhausted, we didn't hear anything. DD5 and DD7 took turns sleeping in the ceiling bed; neither ever woke up during the night (except the time when DW was going to Shutters and saw Cinderella in the attrium with no line; she came back and woke the girls up to go visit! This is one of our better pictures, girls in Princess PJ's with the princess.)

The room is fairly close to the center staircase and elevators, which made it very convenient to run back to the room from anywhere. The first couple of days, we took the elevator. As the week went on, we found ourselves taking the stairs. The exercise felt good after all the eating we were doing.

If anything was wrong in the room, it was the privacy curtain. It only went half way across the room. I am not sure if that is how they are supposed to be, but it seemed odd it didn't go all the way across. We never felt the need to close it all the way, so we didn't say anything as it was not a bother to us.

On our next cruise, we booked the room next door, 8540. I would not be concerned about noise.
