Please forgive me for asking a non-disney question but my daughter's 6th b-day will be coming up right before our WDW trip. With all my planning for the trip, I haven't spent any time planning her party. I have looked online and found some cute ideas but not much for decorating. We usually have the parties in the garage and I get it all "decked out." I have a refridgerator box and want to include it (maybe as a cat house?) but haven't found any creative ideas on what or how to transform it. Everyone on the board seems to be so creative so I thought I would send out a request for any ideas. Thanks!

We did a cat and dog theme for my DD 6th birthday. The movie Cats and Dogs had just come out. I made a stencil for paw prints and used sidewalk chalk to make a paw print path to the door. I went to the dollar store and got metal dog/cat dishes and that is what we served the ice cream and cake in. Also made collars from ribbon for them to wear as necklaces and/or bracelets. We had a pet grooming station where they could put bows in their hair and paint their paws. I made a big sign listing all the "Grooming Services" available.

We really did not decorate the inside of the house so much, so can't really help you with that one.

Have a great time.

If your DD has stuffed cats, toy cats, etc, you could work these into your decorating. Mice, balls of string, streamers- just throwing out cat-related things you might could use on posters to decorate with. The box could be made into an adoption center and you could buy some little stuffed cats and let them choose which one they want to adopt and take home as their party favor. If you could find a cat-shaped cookie cutter, you could have cat cookies, and cat face cupcakes wouldn't be too hard to make, with licorice whiskers. Goldfish in a cat bowl, maybe. You might also find wooden or foam cat crafts at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Have the Aristocats playing on TV, or make a CD of cat-related songs. Maybe look at the Family Fun website for ideas, or www.birthdaypartyideas.com.

Ooooooo! Love the cat ideas! Our DD is a cat fanatic, has a cat themed room in fact. I would make the fridge box into a kitty condo like thing. Lay on it;s side and cut out holes in varied places and hang small cat toys from string in a few and inside. Maybe a find the mouse scavenger hunt type game, with clues to where the mouse is hidding. Surprise at the end could be Mickey or Minnie related. This idea of a cat party is so cute I may have to try it myself!

This is great! Love the ideas!! I think we might serve "hot cats" (instead of hot dogs:rotfl: ) and I also thought of having a tag game by having all the girls wear tails and try to catch other kids tails without losing their own. The one with the most wins. Maybe I could pick up another box or two and have cat centers - adoption house, grooming house, vet with a "cat walk" in the middle?!

How about letting the girls decorate necklaces (like collars) and give themselves a "cat name" on a little tag they can hang on the necklaces. Then they could walk around and call eachother by their cat names. Also, get a little make up to draw on cat noses and whiskers! :goodvibes

Such great ideas girls. On microsoft online they have a great cat face clip art that I have used before to make cats masks for all the party guests. It sizes up perfectly and you just need to cut our the holes for eyes, attach elastic etc. I cant post the link as I am new, sorry. But you'll be able to find it if you look.

You could make kitty litter cake to go with your theme. The recipe can be found by doing a quick web search. Basically, you make a cake, but crumble it all up, and melt tootsie rolls to shape them like little kitty deposits. It is served in a new litter box with a new litter scooop (emphasis on the NEW). When you are finished with the box & scoop you could donate it to a local animal shelter if you don't have a use for it.

Since they are 6, they're old enough to appreciate helping the animal shelter. You might consider asking guests to bring a box of cat food for donation to your local shelter, and in the thank you card your daughter sends, she could include a picture of the donation.

My daughter went to a party where they requested cat food, and she LOVED that.
