My 3.5 month old female kitten had an accident yesterday. She has been perfect with the litter box before then. I'm keeping an eye out for other signs of a UTI, but is it possible that she just had an accident cause she waited to long and has a little bladder? I'm now paranoid it's a permanent behavior problem.

And I scoop her litter twice a day so it's not dirty, and she has been using the litter boxes.

PS - she is named Gracie after the Haunted Mansion, so this is slightly Disney related. ;/)

Roxie did that from time to time at that age... she would be playing and wait till the last minute to go and not make it or just make it in time.

Now if I could get Klaus to cover his poo poo.... he lets his sister do it for him!!!

Mine usually only miss the box if there's a problem, ( I have 2) however you need to clean the spot very well with something like Nature's Miracle or she will probably go back and use that spot again. I'd watch carefully for UTI signs.

Sorry, I thought she was 3.5 years old, she was probably just busy! I would still get that spot super clean though.

You need to remember that your kitty is still just a baby and accidents happen. I would not be overly concerned. She will be fine. My cats have done that before and it was usually because they were too wrapped up in playing that they forgot.

Autumn refuses to cover hers and Gwen will sit in front of the box and stare at me until I handle it. My cats are divas.

Thank you all! I've never had a kitten this young and I didn't know if they had accidents like puppies and children.

Kittens are like kids - it takes them a little time to perfect that whole potty business.

However, they are better at it than kids...and you save a fortune - litter is much cheaper than pampers.

Maybe we should litter train out toddlers. ;)

Hang in there!

I didn't have any issues with that when Boo was that age, but she would get so busy playing she would forget to eat. I would have to make a game with her food! So it sounds normal. I agree about super cleaning the spot though!

One thing I learned the hard way though, was waiting too long to get her fixed. You do not want that to happen! (If you want a good nights sleep at all for an entire week!)
