Okay I got a brother and sister pair in May 2006. The male is solid white and deaf.
The female had kittens five weeks ago (we do not think they are by the brother cat...not that it matters) and the male cat helped her take care of them up till last week. He bathed them, slept with them and was just a great help to her.
He came up missing for three days and came home with an injured eye (that is still swollen shut). When we let him in the house SHE attack him and I mean she tried to kill him.
We seperated them and figured he must have a smell on him so later that day I bathed him in some nice smelling shampoo and put him back outside. We then tried to bring him in and she again tried to attack him.
Last night DS had the male in his bedroom (in his lap) while the female was outside (it is getting harder to keep them seperated). We decided to let her back in and see what happened. She came in sniffing around DS chair and when she finally found him in DS lap she attack before we could do anything.
SHE IS VISCIOUS and seems to be out to kill him. He does not fight back. He is the gentlest thing and so sweet and he cannot hear her before she is on him.
We have to keep her in because of the four kittens but he is used to coming in and out at will.
My questions: Why would she be attacking him as they have lived together for over a year happily. She acts like she does not know this cat.
Also we are going to get rid of her and two of the kittens...How old do the kittens have to be before we can separate them from the mother? They are eating and even going in the litter box now.
