Cat. 9 rooms - Is deck 1 or deck 2 preferred?

There is one deck 1 cabin available for my cruise and the website states this the best available cat 9. There are a number of deck 2 rooms available as well. Why would a deck 1 be better than deck 2? Aren't the portholes on deck 2 larger?

You can't always go by DCL's version of "best available." Their website lists the adjoining SPRs before the non-adjoiners. As to which is better, it really depends on your own tastes. Deck 1 has two small portholes vs. one large one on deck 2, but on 2 you could be right under a nightclub. If you are a late partier, you might want to go for the better view. If you like to get to bed early, a better location on deck 1 might be more to your liking.

Thanks Barb,

Right now, I have 2108 which isn't under a nightclub and not listed as a noisy deck 9 room. Cabin 1072 is available on deck 1.

I "think" what I have is the better of the two. Am I correct?

That's probably the one I would opt for. I've never stayed on deck 2, but I definitely lean towards the view. We were under Rockin' Bar D once and it was tolerable, so as long as you're not even under a club, you should be fine.

We've sailed Cat. 9, Deck 2 twice-the large porthole is great-you made the right choice, IMHO.

Princessmomma- We just booked cabin 2108 for this fall. Have you done your cruise yet? How was the cabin? We orginially booked 2508 but grabbed this one when it became available since it was more "mid-ship" and towards the aft.
Thanks!

I have a quick question about the deck 2 cat. 9 portholes. I've read here that they get quite a bit of sea spray? Have you found that this is a problem mmouse36? Your picture looks good. Doesn't seem to be any on there at all.

Stayed in 2648 & 2646 Jan 23-27 and they were good rooms. We did not hear much noise from above. Docking in the mornings were noisy - not sure if you can hear that all over the deck though. We did not recieve any sea spray at all - clear windows the entire time. We were right under the restaurants, so to speak, so just hopped on the elevators and were there. We like to keep active so walking from the front of the ship to the aft was not a problem for us - mid ship would be better if you are not a walker!

I would stay on Deck 2 for the big porthole, the deck 1 porthole appear very small.
