If a cat. 4 "sleeps 4 or 5" and that cat IS available for a particular sailing......why does DCL show availability only with 2 of three in your sailing party...... just wondering.........
Even though a cabin may technically hold 4 or 5 people....the ship must be close to capacity and when that happens they only let 2 or 3 people book in each cabin. Sometimes it will let you book only 2 people in a cabin that could hold more. It may also have something to do with the kids club being at capacity.
Do you have young children? It could be that the kid's club has reached it's maximum occupancy already for that age group for that cruise. I know that on our first cruise a couple weeks before we cruised we thought that it was sold out but when we tried to book for just two adults we got the room so they were just full for the kid's limits.
Apparently, they fill the lifeboats for your area as well. When the lifeboats are full, the rooms are full. No "Titanic" going to happen here. When you book your room, you've booked a spot on the lifeboat.
I would agree with the fact that the cruise might be nearly sold out. If you are holding a reservation, you can asked to be put on the waitlist for a 4 person cabin. DCL checks the inventory every night and will call and let you know when/if your waitlist request clears. You might have to wait until the cancellation penalties start and final payment date passes - a lot of people book Disney cruises and place a deposit to keep their options open. Then, when the sailing gets closer, they decide to do something else instead of the Disney cruise.
You can always ask the res agents why this type of thing is happening....
I have 2 rooms booked for the 11/19/05 Western. Cat 6 and 11 across the hall. That's the same we did last year. we are thinking of letting each DD bring a friend. They would sleep in the cat. 11 all tegether and myself and DW in the 6. The next sailing will be our 5th in 5 years with DCL and I've always wondered why have a room that COULD sleep 5 and only put 3 in....'have bout one of those complimentary upgrades have a 6 or 7 bumped to a 4 and an 11 to and 8 and so on. On our first we booked a cat. 11 and upgraded to a 6 60 before sailing and now as you see we PAY for the 6 all the time.....
But the lifeboat thing seems to make sence.....
