I just booked cat 3 room number 8080 with the connecting cat 4 8082 for our cruise next year. There are 7 of us. 4 adults (2 parents and 2 grandparents) and three kids ages 9,7,4. We were able to use a half off discount from DCL from a prevoius bad cruise. We stayed in a cat 4 last lime. So i thought with the half off we should go cat 3 since we will never be able to spend on a cat 3 full price. The extra cost with the half off is about $1000.00 vs. two cat 4's. My questions are:

Is it worth the extra $1000.00
Is the concierge service hype or is beneficial
Has anyone stayed in 8080 and if so any opinions good or bad
Do you get free soda or water daily in cat 3's

please feel free to provide any opinions/thoughts on this and thank you in advance.

We need to get 'wdwgoose' to see this thread!! :)

They stayed in cat 3 #8102 last year, and we were so impressed that we booked the very same cabin for this year! I am convinced that it is worth it. It was a fantastic room, and with all the other plusses, I have no hesitations about spending the extra dough. We were in a cat 5 though, not cat 4. Still, I was amazed at the difference! Cat 3 is SO spacious and luxurious. I can't wait. You only live once - live well!!! I mean, what else are you gonna do with the money - send your kids to college? HA!

ENJOY

We were in 8100 and loved the extra room, the concierge service, etc. It was great. With a deal like yours, I sure would go for a Cat. 3. But...that's me!

we've stayed in a cat 4, a cat 3 and a cat 1. by far, the cat 1 is best :) but hard to get. the cat 3 was very spacious (i can't remember our stateroom, but it was forward and not across from the elevators (those cat 3s are shaped differently).

in the cat 1, we received water and soda whenever we requested it from the concierge. i assumed (erroneously) that the cabin steward was supposed to restock that daily, but it is the concierge that handles it. when we stayed in the cat 3, i don't think we were aware that soda and water was provided free, so we didn't order it, but i think all concierge guests receive that.

another benefit of concierge is that you can order full, hot meals delivered to your stateroom from any restaurant. so, if you want the benefit of a dinner from palos, but want it in the privacy of your stateroom, you can order that. you can also get hot breakfasts delivered (as opposed to continental breakfast for non-concierge guests). we had a wonderful morning watching us docking at castaway cay, eating croissant on our veranda (we were port-side and the shipped pulled in rather than backed in).

is it worth it? YES! YES! YES! but then, now i'm spoiled!!

I agree with dizneykids...maybe because of the similarity in screen name!!!!

By all means spend the $1000 and get the wonderful service. We have stayed in a Cat 3 on the last two cruises and found the space wonderful. We never stayed in the back, but have Cabin 8522 and 8022 booked for November. We are paying $8,000 per stateroom just for that service, so look at the wonderful deal that you have!!! Just read the boards and get information on what they offer and what they do for you, it seems to differ from each sailing and unless you ask, they do not offer too much. I am not sure about the free sode and water in Cat 3, we never did get any. I think that is for the Roy & Walt Disney suites, an extra perk for them. We were going to book the Cat 3 and connecting Cat 4, but were unsure if all the peoprle in the party get Cat 3 Conceierge Service. Called Disney sveral times and was told differnt things. That is how we ended up with two Cat 3 cabins to make sure we all had the same wonderful service and all our reservations made for us. Happy Sailing!!!

Hi! We also have cabin # 8080 booked for Magic June 1st and also have 3 children. Will post a report on this cabin after we return. We however, have cabin # 8046 booked on Wonder April 7th and should receive the same service with that cabin. Will let you know. We are really excited about having concierge service on the ship!!! We will let you know of the differences when we return. We were on Wonder in April last year about the same time in a cat. 6 (2 cat. 6 rooms) will be happy to report on the different experiences. Definately will ask for the sodas and waters, just to see what happens. Sometimes you just have to ask. We always stay on the concierge floors at the resorts and usually if you ask you receive. (I really don't think water is asking for too much) Only 12 days till sailing!!!!!!
