Hello all - 1st time cruiser on the 3-night Wonder. We're in Cat 4 cabins 8052, 54, 56, and 58, and Cat 3 8078. Can anyone share any experiences with these cabins?

Thanks very much!!!

Depending on weather and sea conditions, the Captain decides whether to head into, or back into the port at Castaway Cay. I'd say your chances are 50/50.

I believe now the ship almost always (if not always) "backs" into CC. The reason is to make exiting easier if strong winds or a unexpected storm appear.

We have been on both sides of the ship. Our first cruise in 8032 it was interesting to watch how the ship docked and how DCL set everything up. We also watched when we left. If you want a great view of CC, just go up to deck 9 or 10 and walk around. Also go down to deck 4.

Our second cruise was in 8532. Watching CC come into view from the verandah was fun and you do have a nice view anytime you want.

Each had its own advantages.

Enjoy the Cat 3 - they are huge and beautiful inside. The extra space is really nice to have, especially if you have small children or a larger group that would like a place to meet.

As others have mentioned, you don't know if the ship will back in or not.

We've been on both sides. It's actually quite interesting to be on the side that isn't facing the beach. You can watch the docking procedures.

Okay...I'm new to this...so please bear with me ;) If the boat 'backs' in...which side is toward the island?

If the ship backs in at CC, the dock is on the port (lefthand) side. The starboard (righthand) side will have the view of the family beach, boat rental, and snorkeling areas of the island.

Here's a view from cabin 8590 (starboard) when we backed in to CC.

The AFT part of the ship will be facing the island. From The rest of the ship you will have a sideways glance.

When I'm at CC I'm not that concerned about the view of the island FROM the ship, I'm ON the island enjoying myself. When I return, I go up to deck 10 and enjoy the entire vista of this heavenly place!!

Thanks JRABBIT (and everyone else). I'm always so thankful for folks willing to share so others can learn and make the most of their Disney Magic :earboy2: I'm learning

I was mainly concerned about the view b/c I (aka 'mama') will likely be on the ship with the baby (will be 11 months at time of sailing). If she is napping...I can envision me relaxing on the verandah with cool drink and a book :goodvibes

Back to reality...and laundry :rotfl:

Aaaaa. "that" reality. Our kids were older the first time we cruised (they didn't need naps :rolleyes1 ) but if they did the verandah would be nice.
