cat 10 vs 11 and which decks?

Trying to decide b/t cat. 10 stateroom and cat 11. Looks like cat 10 is not much more $ and has the split bathroom. However the cat 10s are on decks 1 and 2 and the 11s are on 5,6,7. Is the extra room worth being way at the bottom of the ship?

If I chose the cat 11, which deck is preferable?

Plus, would I be more likely to get an upgrade by booking an 11 than a 10?

JJSmama,

We have been in cat 11 rooms, 6537 and 6545. Both rooms were on the same hallway, midship. Noise was nonexistent, but the rooms were small for 2 adults and 2 children (6 &9). Deck 6 is close to everything, the club and lab, shops, theaters, restuarants and deck 4 activities. If you book cat 11, use small suitcases. OUr first cruise was a bit cramped in the cabin because of the size of our suitcases. This year there was more space because we packed less and used smaller suitcases.

We've had room assignments, so upgrades were not a possibility for us. Another disser we met on our April 3 cruise was upgraded from Cat 11 to cat 9. I think upgrades depend on the demand for Cat 11 & Cat 10 rooms.

Good luck & wish we were going with you

Hi, i had the same problem when booking and after research went for deck 7 cat 11, this has the advantage of being near the not so secret sunbathing deck. I didn't want to be too low in the ship although i understand if you get seasick that lower is better, storage wise you can lift up the bed and put your suitcases under it. I've read of people getting upgrades on an 11 even with an assigned cabin number so i guess you should go with whatever you feel most comfortable with and not be too dissapointed if the elusive upgrade fairy doesn't come your way
Have a great trip

We did GTY 11 and were upgraded to a 9 on deck 1. We liked Deck 1 a lot. We were in 1048, close to the midship elevators. Only two floors from the Atrium (an easy walk for us). It was VERY quiet down there. We felt little motion (except one night). It was also really nice when we came back from being on shore, tired and hot with two small kids, that we didn't have to wait for the elevators or climb stairs to get to our cabin. Our room was right there.

I was glad for the split bath and the port hole, but if I had to cruise without them, I would in a heartbeat.

Good luck!

What??? If we have assigned rooms, we aren't eligible for an upgrade?

I really don't understand any of this now - LOL! I thought that if you were cat 12 with unassigned rooms that you wouldn't get upgraded.

Help! I'm so confused!

Aren't we all!!:jester: It doesn't matter if you have an assigned room or not with regards to getting an upgrade. Reciently someone got upgraded from a cat 4 to a 3. I'll betcha that they had a room number when they had the cat 4. More people have been annoucing that they have received upgrades when they have had a cat 11 guarentee. But others with assigned room numbers have too! So there's hope!!

I booked two CAT 10's and we are on Deck 7. The $$ was not much more than an CAT 11. I know we won't get un upgrade, that is why I booked a 10 over an 11. (I am just not that lucky)

Our first cruise we were in a CAT 10 on Deck 6. Deck six was great.

I have always read, book what you know you will be happy with and don't count on an upgrade!

I am happy with the CAT 10 on Deck 7...........I'm going to be on the most MAGICAL ship, don't care where I have to sleep!:jumping1:

We were very happy with our cat. 11 on deck 7 (although lower would have helped my sea sickness). Our cabin was just fine 2 adults and a 6 and 11 yr old.). We were only there to sleep so we never got in anyone's way. Suitcases weren't a problem either. We had 5 plus carry-ons. A couple went under the bed and the rest in the closet. Compared to our Carnival cabin, it was spacious....lol. Loved the fact that there was a couch for the kids to sit on.

We had a cat 10 on deck 7...7003. It was a fabulous room, and we really appreciated the split bath! We had very high seas and it was no worse than anywhere else on board
