I am not sure where to post this. I have spent the better part of the last 30 minutes lurking around trying to find which forum to post and I am at a total loss. I figure a mod will put it where it needs to go IF it doesn't belong here, right?

Anyway, I have posted before about the fact that I am taking my Girl Scouts to WDW in June. I am looking for something VERY specific and I can't find it anywhere. I have booked our trip through Disney Youthgroups and they said that I needed to find these where the CMs get their lanyard pins. What are they... I know you are asking that. I am looking for the plastic vinyl pouch holders that go on the bottom of the lanyards. I want the ones that Disney has (got one with my *2nd* honeymoon package a few years back) that have the slider like on the more expensive ziplock baggies. The only ones I have found either in my local area at office supply stores, Walmart, online, etc. are just the "squeeze" kind of ziplock. I figure that either Disney is making these themselves or the company that does make them is a BIG secret because I have been searching since November!

Anyway, they are on backorder through WDW Merchandise and they are VERY pricey through them, too, at $4 a piece which is steep when we are talking that we only make .50 per box of cookies! Also, the one that WDW Merch has includes several different ways of connecting the pouch. We don't need these things... we just need the pouch!

I am running out of time, so I would LOVE for a castmember to respond to this. I completely understand the anonymity issue and feel free to PM me. Anything you can do to help... we have been planning this trip for five years and are looking SO forward to it. I just want everything as perfect as can be and I fear that if I am unable to find these pouches, we will have the issue of someone losing their room key/ticket/meal coupons, etc.

Thanks in advance!!!

This might sound silly, but it is just a suggestion...

I am not sure I understand exactly what you are looking for but I can sympathize with your situation and can completely understand you being worried about loss or damage to valued items.

I hate to say it but $4.00 for anything Disney sounds pretty reasonable and I am not sure it will be possible to beat that price.

Perhaps one of the girl's moms who is handy at sewing or crafts might be able to create and produce pouches for your girls? I would imagine that this would be an easy project for someone who sews. The only thing is that instaed of the plastic zipper they would have to have a real zipper. But if they think about it hard enough perhaps they might be able to design something that will serve your purposes, identify your group and also save you money. They might even be willing to donate them for your cause!

Again... just an idea that perhaps you hadn't thought of!

I hope you all have a great trip!!

Thanks for your suggestion... it is a good one, but I need something waterproof. I suppose if you didn't understand what I am looking for, then I should probably try to explain it a little better in the hopes that a Castmember will understand what it is.

It is called a lanyard pouch that attaches at the bottom of the lanyard. In all of the places that Disney sells pins, they sell the lanyards, but usually not the pouches... this is something I happened to have received as part of their wedding/honeymoon package when I went on my second honeymoon three years ago. It is a vinyl pouch with a slider that opens and closes the pouch. It is much like the zip lock bags with the sliders. We put our room key/ticket in there when we went to the parks so we didn't have to carry a wallet/purse, etc.

I agree that $4 for something Disney is a bargain in most cases, but with all the other things our troop has to pay for, the $4 seems a little steep... it would run us $44 just for the pouches and although that doesn't seem like a lot of money to most people, it does to us when we have been working to earn the money to go on this trip for five years. I guess I didn't think they would be so difficult to find and had no idea they would be so expensive! I have been searching everywhere since Novemenber for these commercially and no one seems to have them. I can find other varieties such as the kind used for meetings/conventions, but they do not have the slider. Others just zip shut like the "original" kind of zip lock baggies. I bought one like this to test it out and it was not very easy to work with for me, so it might really frustrate a bunch of 11 to 14 year olds.

Anyway, I hope this helps explain what I am looking for better. I am sure that if a Castmember reads this, he/she will know what I am talking about.

Thanks so much for reading! I appreciate the time it took!

CM's buy them at their Company D store. I haven't seen them for sale in the parks. Have you looked in the sporting goods store. They have pouches like that for a fishing license.

my cousins work for WDW, and i can tell you they pay $4 for them as well. i had them get me one for my upcoming trip.

You CAN get the horizontal one with the slider on it at Walmart! Maybe yours is out, but they are by the vertical ones that don't have the slider. They are 97cents each and they work really well. They have a black strap with a velcro safety closure.

If you can't find these or enough of them(there were only 1-2 when I bought mine), maybe you could call Walmart's corporate office or the manufacturer and they could help you get enough.

There was a link about these where another poster posted a picture. Here is the link.... That way you can see what they look like and the maker.....

Walmart Lanyards

I know what your talking about. I have purchased 2 of them at our local Big 5 (sporting good store). I paid $2 each for them. If you try and cannot find any in your area let me know and I'll be happy to pick them up for you and you can pay me back. I was a girl scout, it's a great program. I support anyone who supports the scouts. :)

Yes a sporting goods store has the ones that we who fish put are licence in.

have you checked on ebay yet ?

If none of those ideas pan out for you, maybe check at a local (?) ski area. I've worked for a ski area and we had very similar pouches for the season passes.

Or, try an event planner. Those type of lanyards are often given out to larger trade show participants so they can put their business cards and credentials in there.

I got mine at Walmart too. It was a horizontal type with a zipper and black lanyard. They worked great for our trip in February!

There were only 2 when I got mine too. They were in the jewelry department by the wallets.

Good Luck!

I was at Walmart today looking @ the lanyards-only back plain ones. When I was in the office supply section, there were badge holder- like the plastic ones that are with the lanyards- which could be secured on a cord or with a big safety pin. There were 12 in a package for 1 or 2 dollars! It was a great deal. My DD and her friend can buy ribbons or colored shoelaces to cooordinate with their outfits!

You can replace the strings from walmart with whatever ribbon you like, but they won't have the velcro closure, which may be important with children.

My Wal-Mart has both the vertical and horizontal with the "slider". I'm planning to keep my kid's i.d. information in there and then have them wear it inside their clothing. I also trimmed the cord and retied the knot so it wasn't so long on them.

About a week ago i was asking about pins and went to a site (i almost want to say dizpins, but i cant get to it at work...so cant check for you) and they had those zipper pouches for lanyards. It stated it would be perfect for you to carry money or your room keys (hence your tickets) etc.

They were 6.99 each. Kinda steep if you ask me, but i almost bought 4 of them. If you find the site would you please pm me. You might find it by googling 6.99 disney pin...or lanyard holder. (stupid job has me unable to visit most disney sites....entertainment yanno...)
