Hi does anyone know what the prices of the cake toppers run?? I know you could get several choices and I heard they are expensive but I was wondering how expensive. Thanks..

ive seen people be quoted different costs, i think that they may come in 2 sizes so that may explain the difference in prices: (heres a couple of quotes from previous posts)
"White chocolate castle cake topper $106.50 incl tax"
"We had ours done in white chocolate, it was about $180"
"The price for the Cinderella Sandcastle is $165.00" (made from sugar not chocolate)
hope that helps

That is correct, there are two sizes of the white chocolate castle and the sugar one is new.

So I have a really dumb question. Obviously with a white chocolate topper you have to worry about the top melting eventually, but what about with the sugar topper?? :confused3 Does sugar melt? I would assume it does, but my DW and I were wanting to get a topper that we could have as a keepsake.

Actually, sugar molds can be kept for a very long time provided you put it somewhere ants can't get to it. You don't have to worry about melting though. I used to decorate cakes and used sugar molds from time to time. I loved them because they can be made in advance and you don't have to worry about weather and humidity like you do for chocolate or buttercream icing. If you want a "forever" keepsake though, I would go with a non-food item. The sugar will far outlast the chocolate though. HTH

i'd go with the sugar one then, the chocolate one will melt, but unless you do something daft like leave the sugar one in direct sunlight it should stay in one piece indefinately.

Here's another question, kind of along the same line; can you have an intimate/escape ceremony and have whatever upgrades you want, so long as you pay for the upgrades? For instance, we're having an intimate vow renewal but my DW doesn't want the plain cake that comes with it. So can we purchase a nicer cake so long as we pay for the difference? :confused3

Yes you can. They will credit you $200 for the intimate cake.

WHEW!!! That was the thing I was most afraid of. I was scared they would tell me that if I wanted to make any changes that it would put it under the "Custom" category and stick me with that KILLER minimum!! :rotfl2: Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Your welcome. But just a warning. Depending on what you want it will really cost you. You might have a look at the "Picture of Disney cakes" thread. Lots of good info there. GL

I have heard that the only place they allow you to upgrade your cakes is if you get married at the Wedding Pavilion. Not sure how true it is or if it depends on your planner etc. but just a thought.

No, they will allow an upgrad anywhere. They were going to happily allow me to spend an extra $600 for the one I wanted and I am getting married at the Gazebo.

Well, we're going to try and upgrade just about EVERYTHING and we're trying for the Sunset Pointe. We're upgrading the cake, getting Randy as a photographer, adding the MK photo session, having Mickey and Minnie there and swapping a flutist for a violinist maybe. The only thing we're not upgrading is the limo. Think this sounds crazy?? :lmao: Oh, and before anyone says anything, I TOTALLY know that I'm going to be paying for this. This is going to end up being over triple my original wedding, but that's ok. That's what my DW wants, and it's going to make both of us happy. What can I say, we were both in college when we had our "real" wedding, and we were poor. Now we're not and we want to do it right.:thumbsup2

You may seriously want to think about changing to a Custom if you are adding so much. Just a suggestion. Sounds like you will have a magical time.

Okay this may be completely stupid...but how small is the small castle topper?? Would it fit on a intimate cake or would I need to upgrade the cake too??

I thought of that, but after adding everything up, I'm still a few thousand short of the $10k minimum. I think it was coming up between 6 and 7k.

Not a stupid question at all. The small castle will fit on top of the standard intimate cake. I know I have seen it before. I will do a search and see if I can find a link with some photos for you!

The small castle has a 6" base, the large castle has a 12" base. Small castles are 7" tall, Large are 11" tall. The "sand" castle is not sugar, but is sprayed with melted and thinned chocolate to give it the sandy look. This should be treated the same as the uncoated castle.

Castle Storage:

Any chocolate item will keep for some time. Their enemy will be any heat over 89 degrees, or direct sunlight. As the castle "ages", the cocoa butter in the chocolate will "bloom", or begin to discolor. This leaves a white powdery look, but can be removed if brushed with a small DRY paint brush. Some castles have lasted 5 years or more with proper care. Above all, do not refrigerate or freeze your castle. Freezing will cause it to crack apart. Refrigeration will cause the chocolate to condensate when removed from the cold, and leave a sticky mess that can not be wiped away. Choclate will also absorb any odors in the refrigerator, and ruin the flavor.

Here is my intimate cake with small castle topper.
