Hey guys- We've been thinking about buying into DVC for quite some time now.... and I've read different things on this Castle to Castle promotion. Does it apply to NEW DVC members?? I've read on some sites it does, and some it doesn't. I asked our sales guy about annual passes and he was like nope sorry not gonna happen...well if you'd just give them to me, I would have purchased then!!! :rotfl2: So now I have until Fri for the current $5 off at BLT and to get last years points, but I really SELFISHLY want some dang annual passes. I already have DL ones, but WDW would be a great thing to get....

So anyone know the official answer to this??? Thanks DISers!!

dvcnews.com is reporting that new member can get free annual passes with a required minimum purchase at AKV or GCV:

Special Offer 1: Free Walt Disney World and Disneyland Annual Passes with purchase. Incentives are as follows:

160-219 points: 4 APs for Disneyland AND 4 APs for Walt Disney World; cost is $112 per point
220+ points: 4 APs for Disneyland AND 4 APs for Walt Disney World; cost is $108 per point ($112 less $4 discount)

I just bought DVC today (VGC) and was given the option of annual passes or $15 per point credit. We went w/ the point credit so we could get more points. :)

The AP incentive is not valid for purchases of BLT, new or current members. This could be why your guide is telling you no.

If you are interested in VGC or AKV, then yes, IIRC, you can get those as a new buyer.

Thanks for all the responses guys! One last question. So they are standard passes at WDW ...but what about DL? DL has about a million passes. And if I chose to take passes over the per point incentive, I'd be mad if they were deluxe and had black out dates since I already pay for a premium...anyone know which one they are for DL?

I still can't decide $ off per point, or pass, I know, it should be easy, save money...but an annual pass for a few years saves me too...ohhh what to do....

I know the idea of DVC so exciting, but try not to let this decision become so emotional. Think about it and do not rush because of a promotion because I guarantee there will be others in the future that are as good or better!
If you decide to buy now, then think carefully about where to buy, Your OP states you are looking at BLT. The AP's are not an incentive for buying there. If you are happy staying elsewere then yes, the APs are a great incentive. If you buy where you will not be happy then you may regret your decision in the future. Also, do not rush because of an incentive! I bet they will come up with one as good or better in the near future;)
Also, it bothers me that your guide did no explain all of the options and different incentives to you. I would call them and ask them personally about the AP's and the questions that you have. If they do ot take the time to expain everything to you then DO NOT buy from them, get another guide!
DVC is a huge commitment, you should have all your info going into it:)

Now with that being said. I just prurchased 100 points at AKV and I chose the $15 off. For me the $$ up frount made the difference in financing. I did not want to finance an additional $1500. I will save pay cash for my passes and I will make out ahead in the long run. We only visit WDW once year, usually for 6 days so I felt the APs woud be a bit of a waste for us. Everyone is different!

Best of luck with your decision!
