I happened to be standing there the day they started smearing that Pepto Bismol pink on the walls. People who walked by were laughing and so were the painters. They told us that the spires on the castle would be turned into melting candles, and the whole idea was to resemble a big, messy birthday cake. --and they sure succeeded....I hated that thing!!!! I was just reading --somewhere, can't remember where, that the DL Sleeping Beauty castle will have jewels on it, and gilted edges, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of DL.

Sure, I think a lot of people who had been to WDW before thought that too. The disappointment on my end was it was DH's first time there and seeing a cake castle instead of the true castle was a shock to the system.

Personally, I had seen the regular castle before and thought the cake castle was horrible and tacky. But it is all personal preference ya know...doesn't mean that one is truly better than the other.
