Silly question...

I saw pictures of Cinderella Castle on LaughingPlace.com from back in June that showed scaffolding up at the base of the castle for painting. I'm wondering if the scaffolding is still down at the bottom, or if it's moved up, or if it's not even there anymore....

http://www.laughingplace.com/News-ID508480.asp

The painting on the bottom portion is complete, with upper portion painting taking place mainly at night. There is no scaffolding up and the castle looks great.

I read on another site that they are painting the castle. (a different color).

Anyone there recently to deny this rumor?

:D

The castle in DL is all covered up and is supposed to be gold for the 50th anniversary. We missed seeing the castle last week.

I'm not sure why people think the DL castle is being painted gold, because it's not--it will still be pink, though there will be gold accents like before. I think that because of an ad in the Disney magazine, people assumed that the artwork in the ad was a representation of what the DL castle would look like when finished, but that's not what it'll look like at all.

Oh lord I hope not...but then nothing could be worse than the confectionary nightmare they did 6 or so years ago.

I remember the pink castle. It was my mother’s first trip to WDW. ……………. Mom’s first trip to any Disney park. I gave her the option of the monorail or boat. She chose the boat as a more relaxing way to enter the magic. We walked to the front (hummm or is it the back) of the boat to be one of the first people off when it docked. And what to my wondering eyes did appear???? Mother’s comment…”what’s that big pink smoozy thing.” My mothers first visit to a Disney property did not include a fairytale castle. It did however include a “big pink smoozy thing”.

I have pictures of that castle on my photo.epson.com site listed below. I liked that castle.

It was a shame at DL last week so much of the park is covered up for the anniversary. My daughter was very disapointed not to see the castle.

Yup, same kind of situation. I took my (then) fiance to WDW and was talking up the castle bigtime before we left. (He had only been to DL at this point). When we got there they were in the middle of pinking out the castle and I was almost in tears as he jokingly said to me "no offense honey but I think I like the castle at Disneyland better".

We went back in April of 97 for our honeymoon and the castle was done being turned into the pink nightmare.

I remember seeing the "big pink smoozy thing" when we went in 1998. We called it the "Pepto Bismol Castle!" I like how it looks now!

Saw it in April 1997! We called it the Peptobismol Castle!!
But I did hear the rumor while I was at WDW in May that they were painting the castle. Whether that means a different color or just sprucing up....don't know:wave2:

Glad WDW castle is staying the same color. whew

Our first trip to the World was in 1996. The castle had already been changed into the pink cake. My 2 year old loved it and was quite disappointed when the castle was back to normal on our next trip.

Oh do I remember that big tacky pink thing - it was really ugly!! That was DH and my first trip to WDW and we were more than shocked to see that thing at the end of Main Street. It was a little disappointing since it was our honeymoon and were really hoping to see the real castle - so glad it returned back to normal for all of our trips since then!

I didn't see the pink castle, but I have seen pictures....and it looked, well....goofy!

I liked how they did the castle up like that! LOL! It is nice to see things changed around once in a while for a special occasion.

Come on! I thought the castle-cake was a cute idea for the 25th birthday of WDW. I didn't mind it at all.

What I don't like is the big neon sign over Spaceship Earth in Epcot. It was fine for the year 2000, but I want it back to normal now! I heard that taking it down is too expensive, and that's why they are leaving it up. I wonder it that's true...
