It is being reported on screamscape.com that the castle decorations will be coming down in the begining of septmber. They will start repainting the castle around sept. 10-13th and also start the room build/renovation at that time. do to all this work/constustion it is being stated that we can expect to see not only walls up, but a nice big crane next to the castle for early sept. to early dec.( personaly this will suck for me b/c i am getting married on proporty oct. 9th -----and will have great pics of my whole family/the castle/and the crane yeah)

I hope it isn't true but I suspect that it is. We are going Sep 23-30.

I checked disneyworld.com and couldn't find anything on it and called to ask. The Rep didnt know either.

It would make sense to do it during that time period as the attendance is lower. I would wonder about the extra bookings due to the dining plan, but that runs only through Oct 1 I think.

I personally like the Castle now. I wish they would keep the gold on the spires but they could do away with the Mirror. At least it isn't the birthday cake. My gawd that was horrible!!

ETA This thread on the Themepark Board regarding same issue

They didn't use a crane to put the decorations up.... so why are they using it to take them down?

I'm pretty positive that they did use a crane to put the decorations up.

Since Cinderellabration is ending 9/16, I would think that the actual start date would be after that rather than the 10th-13th range.

They did use a crane which sat squeezed between Sir Mickey's and the castle. During the day they lowered the boom so that it could not be seen from the front of the castle.

Mouseplanet is reporting that they will only have the crane up at night after park closing.

I read something that stated the painting and removal of castle decor would be done by sep 30th. The painting is just touch up from where the decor sat. Also, wouldn't it be bad press if Disney had a giant wall and maybe a crane blocking the castle during the beginning of October? Remember, Oct 1 is when the new celebration starts and also its when the big sweepstakes (keys to the kingdom) starts. The rest of the dates leading to Dec are strictly for the suite upstairs, nothing external. Thats' what I heard anyway, and when I called disneyworld, the rep said that the outside of the castle would be done by the start of the new celebration!

Too bad they are not keeping the character decorations on the roof. It added a lot to the castle!!!
