Does anyone know when the refurb on the castle is due to be finished? :)

We go 7th may so eager to know if to expect construction still or not!

Here's a link to up to date info
Completion date is end of August.

So when I go at the end of July are those walls likely to be up? Ew, gross.

From what I've read I think that there may be less of the walls in July, so you may get lucky.

I agree with you, I think they look gross. We go at the end of May, so we'll have to look at them. If I'd known when I booked to go, I would have booked for later in the year.

Thanks! I read through the article and it looks like the scaffolding will be down in June and painting will just be going on during the day. So hopefully thats the case. For your trip, I am hoping they get the scaffolding down earlier and you just need to see some painters working during the day.

Thank you. I'm hoping that we have a dry Spring and they get the work finished sooner. I'm sure that when they've worked out the time scales, they've allowed for days lost due to bad weather.

Oh gosh! I didn't realise they were doing so much!

It sounds horrible, but I'm now quite glad that we've had to push back our holiday from June to October, so hopefully the girls will see the castle for the first time, minus scaffolding :)

But I completely agree - I would expect it to be done by Julyish time. They can't really afford to to keep scaffolding up over the busy summer months!

xx

Pretty disapointed by this.... we're having our first trip to DLP 5th-9th June!! Hope the castle's not all covered in sheeting then :sad1:. As others have said, if I'd known this, we would have gone later in the year.

Anyone know up-to-date info on this?????

according to a recent report on dlrpinfo -

"•From June onwards, there will apparently be less and less scaffolding covering the Castle, and as work enters the final stages painting will only take place from sunrise to sunset, as it will require seeing exactly how the “temperature” of the colours look."

It looks so shiny and new!! Aaaah!! :cloud9:

Thanks for posting!! :goodvibes

Ohhh thank you sooo much - we aririve next Tuesday and I was so hoping someone would say this - you have made my boring Monday before my holiday feel a lot better :banana::banana:

Thank you for posting the pictures, that looks so much better:). Only three more weeks and I'll be there.

It looks great. We should be able to get a good photo when we go in a few weeks. Does anyone know when you might be able to get upstairs inside the castle again?

Oh my gosh! I thought we would have to look at the scaffolding next month when we are there so this is great news. I had told my daughter that the castle would not be at its best, that the view would be obscured so she was prepared for the worst. I am not going to tell her so she will be surprised! Thanks for posting the pictures!

Pics look great! So glad the scaffolding will be down in time for my visit beginning of July!!! :yay:
