Castle refurb in Oct??

I read on another Disneyland board that beginning in Oct, the castle will be tarped up while the decorations are taken down from the 50th celebration and will not be done until right before Thanksgiving! Can anyone confirm this or provide dates when it would begin?? I am really, really bummed out! How are we going to take pictures in front of the castle if it's covered up?? I realize they have to do this, but why during our once in a lifetime trip??
Sorry for the drama, I just had to vent. I SO hope it's just a rumor.

That would really stink. I would hope that that is not the case.

I havent heard that rumor, but it does make sense. With the 50th ending they will need to take the crowns off. Sorry it will be during your trip! Its one of the problems with going during the off season. There are always a few more refurbs in the works.

We have been twice on the "off season" and even tho some things are down, it is so much fun, no lines (or very little) makes up for it. You will still have a great time.

We had this same thing happen in reverse order for our trip a couple of years ago. The castle was covered with tarps while they began sprucing it up for the 50th. I was really worried but to be honest it didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. Just the other day we were watching some home video of that trip and I saw on there the castle all covered up. I had actually forgotten all about it. Then when we went to WDW awhile later, that castle was all blocked off and partially hidden. Its always something but its so nice they keep things up to par by refurbing them when necessary. But I know its a bummer for you! Have a great trip, you will anyway I am sure.

It looks like they are refurbing it right in the middle of the halloween celebration which is kinda lame imo. They could have just taken down all the sashes and crowns and painted it in January.

I've never been to disneyland before EVER and im going at the beginning of October and I've been looking forward to having my pic taken in front of that castle.... This is my family's first trip to DLR also. The article doesn't specify when in October this will begin. For both our sake, I hope it is late October.
