I dont know for sure if I will stay at either but I'm looking at a deal where 5 days and 5 nights are the same price for both The Castle Inn & Suites and Portofino Inn & Suites in anaheim. Looking at a regular room for a family of 4.

Has anyone stayed at both? If so, which one would you choose and why?

P.S.We have two 7 year old girls who are water bugs. So pool and hot tub are important. I know HoJos pool is great, just wondering about these two at the moment.

Never stayed at the Portofino, but I definitely WOULD NOT recommend the Castle Inn :scared1:

It used to be a fairly nice place to stay, but then they kept raising the prices...and got progressively more lax on upkeep/cleanliness. I'll put it this way: my last stay included roaches in the shower and...blood on the bedsheet. I mean, after a long day at the Park, I pull back the bedspread and there's blood on the sheet. YUCK! The hotel was also way too noisy the last couple of times I stayed there. I don't mean the usual "families with kids who are exuberantly happy to be on vacation" typical, acceptable noise...I mean "teenagers renting a room & stumbling about drunk in the parking lot & calling to eachother loudly at 1am" type of noise. Oh, and there was the other "dealbreaker"...a, how shall I put this?...flashily dressed gentleman was beating up on a...skimpily dressed lady right outside my room; the arguement was over money, and it took place early in the morning, and there was no security to speak of to break it up :scared1: I am by no means a "hotel snob", but that + the bloody sheet = me never staying there again!

There are much better places to stay in the area that are comparable in price!

:scared1: After reading that I'd say go with the Portofino!

When I was researching hotels I know that I crossed Castle Inn off my list based on reviews/research.

Portofino was nice. We stayed in a Kid's Suite, though, and we really liked our room and the service was great. It was a bit far to walk after a couple of days of 4x a day plus walking at DLR (it's further than it looks and that walk really sapped our energy throughout the week), so you may want to consider ART as a backup if you guys aren't in tip-top shape. The pool is a bit small and it's in the middle of the parking lot, but it looked clean and served its purpose and the kids enjoyed it.
