Castle Inn & Suites versus Candy Cane Inn

We are coming down to DL at the end of June because my DGD is marching in the Main Street Parade with her baton team.

The team usually stays at the Candy Cane Inn, but we were looking at the Castle Inn and Suites since there will be five of us staying together.

My question is, how spacious are the rooms at Candy Cane Inn for 3 adults and 2 children? We are not going to be in the room that much obviously, but I don't want to be cramped and stumbling over everyone either. Are the rooms at Candy Cane Inn nice, clean, etc.?

Any help would be appreciated.

While I love the Candy Cane Inn  and it would always be my first choice for accomodation near DL, I think that the rooms might well be too small for the number of people. There are 5 of us going in July and we want to stay together so we are not staying at the CCI (unfortunately!).

The rooms at Candy Cane are not very spacious, especially for 5 people. But it is a lot nicer than the Castle Inn and Suites. It's more expensive than the Castle Inn and Suites too, but they offer a nice continental breakfast.

We stayed at the Castle Inn when we went April of 2005. I will never stay there again. Our room had a gross moldy smell and the people at the front desk were not very friendly. DS (9 at the time) loved it there though. :confused3

I have never seen much in the way of postive reviews of the Castle Inn. If you need a larger room/suite you might check into The Best Western Park Place Inn, Desert Inn and Suites, Tropicana or Howard Johnson's. They all have suites and are all easy walking distance to Disneyland. For that matter, the Hojo's standard room is also quite large and would sleep five pretty easily. Also, I would rather stay in a cramped room at the CCI (which consistently gets the highest reviews of any property on or offsite at DL) than go with the Castle based upon reviews I have read here on the dis and tripadvisor. The Candy Cane also has two levels of rooms, some are a bit larger but might still be cramped. Still if, its just to sleep that might be fine.

Thank you all for your input.

Moldy smell.......uh......don't think so. Even if it is just to sleep, I don't want to be breathing in any of that stuff.

I think that we will go with CCI. DH and I can get up early and get out of the room ahead of the DGC and DXDIL. We can go to the complimentary breakfast while they are getting ready. We will work it out.

Thanks again

Consider yourself lucky that you only got the "gross moldy smell!" When we had the misfortune to stay there once, we came home from the the park about 2am to find our bathroom flooded from above, dripping all over our tooth brushes and my cosmetics!!! We had to move rooms in the middle of the night only to check out that morning! Then they tried to charge me for two rooms!!:headache: The whole time we were there the people up above us were jumping off the beds and made so much noise continually, it was unbearable!! First time I have ever called a front desk to complain about noise. Nothing was done about it! My first and last stay at the Castle Inn & Suites!:rotfl:

Just be aware that the CCI says on their website that there is a maximum occupancy of 4, due to fire code.

Good luck!

[Edited to add: Ah! I see that there are "deluxe" and "premium" rooms that accommodate 5!]
