We are considering staying at the Castle Inn because it's so cheap but I would really like to know what everyone on here thinks. Our first choice is Hojo but their prices are so high for June. Second choice is Park Vue Inn but again, high prices. Both of those properties want $130+ per night.

We've stayed at the Anaheim Plaza before and the walk wasn't that bad, although we did have the room furthest away from the sidewalk way back in the corner. How does the Castle Inn compare? Beds? Walk? Cleanliness?

Thanks so much,
Kelly

Hey Kelly :)

Castle Inn is the hotel right past AP, so it's not too much further away. I've never stayed there before, although I almost did. I booked there when I couldn't get into our "regular" hotel, but after reading the tripadvisor ratings, I cancelled it. I'm sure it's not terrible, but the reviews were so iffy it scared me off. Although checking it out now, it seems like they are more positive than they were when I was going to go there.

I think as long as you know going in that it's a budget hotel, you'd probably be fine. :)

eta- Have you checked Desert Inn, Del Sol or BWPPI? Probably going to be high for June with the opening of WOC, but it's worth a shot.

I would suggest Anaheim Plaza over Castle Inn. Overall it gets much better reviews and is closer to DLR if you are walking.

The walk is not bad at all, the motel is very basic no frills. We were paying $38 a night so could not complain.

We stayed there in 06.My DD and DW got there a day ahead of me and the first room they tried to give them had 'bugs'. That went over like passin gas in church. They were upgraded to an upper floor suite at the front of the motel. Room was nice, but being at the front there was alot of traffic noise and the central AC sounded like a garbage disposal running. The walk is doable,as my grand-kids were only 4yrs old at the time.

I have stayed there twice. 4 nights over spring break 2008 and 5 nights in April 2009. I thought it was just fine. The walk was a little long, but for a good deal it was worth it. It's probably not so bad, but as you walk by the other "closer" hotels on the way home at night, it seems long. I had no complaints, but I am not a very picky person about that kind of stuff. Staff was always courteous and friendly and let us stash our stuff in the lobby on check-in/out days so we could head off to the parks.

My friend goes to DL every other yr, and they always stay here. They do go on a budget (she's on a school teacher's salary) so for them it is worth it. She said as little as they stay in the hotel room, it doesn't really matter that it is a dive.

I'll put it this way: my dog doesn't have bugs. I wouldn't make her stay at the Castle Inn, because I'd like to keep it that way :rotfl:

Seriously, though: I'm by no means a "hotel snob", but after my last stay there, there's no way I'd ever recommend the place! If you're on a budget, the Anaheim Plaza (next door) is a much better place to stay. It's an older hotel with no frills, but it's always been CLEAN when I've stayed there! Plus, the pool area is nice...HUGE pool, with lots of palm trees around it :thumbsup2
