Hi Everyone,

We are looking at staying at Castle Inn and Suites in October and I'm looking for some info on the hotel. It seems like it's had strong reviews on trip advisor but mixed reviews on the dis. Anyone stay here recently? What were your thoughts? How was the walk to the front gate?

Thanks for any and all input,

Mitch

I stayed there last November on a solo trip when they were running a $67/night deal.

Love the 50s/60s kitsch on the outside - gives it that extra bit of charm that makes you feel like you're at Disneyland, and not just any hotel (though don't take this as me saying it's on the same level as the Disneyland resort hotels - it's most definitely not). The pool is small, though I never really checked it out. Parking is free, and they'll let you park even after you checked out. They also give you a discount on your room for your next stay (like the CCI). All the staff I've interacted with are pretty nice.

The rooms themselves have been updated. Decor is definitely more modern, and the rooms are decently spacious. Comfortable beds (though I'm not picky), no issues with the shower, fairly quiet overall. I'm pretty easy-going as long as it looks clean, and it passed my test.

The walk to the gate is pretty much exactly as far as the walk from the CCI, plus crossing Harbor. I didn't find it too bad at all, even after a full day in the parks.

We were there in Dec- I would give pretty much the same review as above! Nothing fancy, nicely remodeled rooms, great for us who just sleep and shower there, even with a 3 yr old in tow. Only downside is there's no breakfast. But, I've also stayed at both Del Sol and Ramada Maingate ATP, and both of those had measly breakfasts that pretty much amounted to nothing, anyway. I would stay at Castle Inn again.

Up until about a year ago (before they remolded) it was a STAY CLEAR hotel. After the remodel all reviews I have seen are good/positive.

We stayed there last month. Same as above. Nothing special but prices are nice. The walk is 10 minutes to the gate. Rooms are clean. Parking is free, so is wifi. No breakfast but we made good use of the mini fridge and microwave in the room.

We stayed on our last trip a few months ago.

We were pretty impressed for the price. The rooms now are updated and comfortable. The beds were great, Free Wifi, Free parking and under 10 mins to the park.

All in all we think it is perfect for a disney vacation as we are only in the room to sleep.

It's our favorite hotel to stay at. We have 4 kids, and the family suites are great, plus they don't cost an arm and a leg. The walk is pleasant, and the staff is really nice and helpful.

The downside, the family suites could use 2 bathrooms. There is no breakfast, but there's a fridge and a microwave, so sometimes we'll bring oatmeal and frozen breakfast sandwiches in the cooler so we can have a quick breakfast before we hit the parks. The pool is miniscule.

That's about it. We used to always stay at the Anaheim Desert Inn, but we make last minute trips usually and they are always booked. So the Castle is our go-to, and we really like it. It's quiet, comfortable, spacious, and a good value.

It's not my favourite in the area, but I agree with the bolded above. We were there 3 weeks ago and I reviewed it for Tripadvisor under the same user name as here.
