I don't know how ppl do it. I cannot seem to wait for "Flawless". I get a lot of "Awesome" and some "good", but as we know, that is not good enough for Fireworks pin. I get a lot of ice, but don't even do the "Room thing". So I give them to my children.
How do you wait? :confused3 They all go at differnet times. Especially those dork blue flakes at the end.
I can usually get into the top 5 ( not tonight), lol, but never up to 240,000. Please, do you do Yoga to gain patience...not to click when you see star...Need to get in touch with someones Zen master I suppose.
If you have any referrals...I am getting desperate enough to give them a call.
LOL

:teeth: It really does just take a lot of practice and eventually you will find your own Zen center and start hitting those "flawless" marks more often! And, no, you really don't need to hit them all flawless to make the 240 mark, but you do need to hit as many of all the fireworks as you can (the flawlesses just help you get there faster!) :goodvibes
Good Luck!

getting in the zone is so true.... flawless is at the end of the flash not the start... the important thing is to hit everything! I just broke the 200,000 mark, and maybe someday will hit 240,000 +

Just remember to hold off as long as possible. Follow the firework and stay to either side of it, then at the last moment when you see the white flash, shoot it off. This takes practice with your timing, but once you get the feel of it, they will come easily. This is how I achieve most of my flawless scores. But as others have stated earlier, hit everything! It is better to score a "good" than to miss it completely. Good luck and hope to see you in the game. Would love to play a round or two!

Also, some of them turn into 'stars' before others.. like the first two symbols dissapear faster than the third, but the fourth is fast, and the fifth and sixth are slower again. You kind of see this when you get the hang of it. Goodluck, and keep trying, it took me a long time too, for a while there i couldent get past 180,000... then 215,000.. then one day.. a mericle happened and i did it.. if i can.. you can too! goodluck :)

The key word: Practice! I have been plaing since last July and finally just made it to the 270,000 mark. My goal is to make it onto the high scores (With that 270 I was only 1,000 away! gr... lol) I remember when making 200,000 was a big thing and to get 240,000 was near impossible for me, however, after playing often and practicing I have learned to be patient and think to myself "I will get it next time  " Be positive and patient and practice plenty. After a few trys you will get it! Believe me, there is really no secret to getting flawless except knowing by instinct when it will be okay to hit (that takes practice and lots and lots of playing lol). :thumbsup2

Yes it is practice practise practise. After playing alot you get to know basic patterns so you are prepared ahead of time. I just got my pin fthis month and I had been playing since day One. One thing that helps me stay calm at the first level is humming A dream is a wish your heart Makes. Some how I seem to get a better scored this way. Yes and look for the white flash. This may be hard on your computer because on the computer I was using before I never saw the white flash. But if you can then after much practise you will get it. I still do not get alot of 240,000 but have managed to get it a few times after wards. So it was not a fluke but does take full mind control and patience. I find fireworks really stressful and only play it to build up credits. Have fun you will get there.

Everyone has already given you the best advice... keep playing and you will improve.

But also- don't miss- yeah there will be some you miss but it is better to get good then nothing so what I tell people is to play fireworks first to where you can hit them all- or as many as possible (there is still that really elusive firework at the end of the tomorrowland that I've hit maybe 3 times lol- and believe me getting that one is more exciting than hitting first place and getting magic)

What I did was start off like I said- hitting them all- getting used to the pattern changes- then on level one I started waiting for them to turn so I can get flawless on a round- I usually keep the curser above the firework and bring it down as a I click so I can see the white star otherwise it will fizzle and change without you seeing it and just die :(

And I don't know about others- but the first round is usually my worst lol- I don't know how many times I go from 7th or 8th place to top three by the end of the game- I tend to do better when there are more fireworks- I think it may be a patience thing- too much time to wait on the first level and not so much on the others- but if I can hit them all I get better scores (so not worrying so much about hitting flawless on the busy levels)

And over time my score has gotten higher and higher- but it takes a lot of practice- so lots of playing.

the good news- is if you can make it to level three and four now- you are still getting more credits than you would have winning before they changed the scoring- so it is still good-

Good luck and keep at it- believe me, a few months ago I was happy to hit 200,000 by the end of round five and now I am pushing into the 260's (not there all the time- but one of these days I'll make it into the 270 club)

There are some fireworks I always miss, no matter how fast I try to move
my cursor. Others, I just wait until the "white star" appears, and that
will get "flawless".

But the biggest thing that helped me improve my game:

Turn off the sound. I found that my scores improved dramatically without
the distraction of the music and fireworks popping.

Yes, there are times I wait for flawless and miss the fireworks completely,
but I know that I will just have to play the game again and practice. :)

My high score was over 264,000, but I mostly hit between 245-255,000 on
average now. I remember when I couldn't break the 240,000 mark!

One thing that I noticed is that the speed of the machine/graphics card made a difference for me. There is a machine I use sometimes at work, 64 bit AMD with a good graphics card. On avereage I would score 15-20k higher on that machine then the one I used at home. It gave me a longer reaction time to click the mouse after the firework started to flash. I could not break 240k on my home machine. I recently upgraded my home machine and now am able to score in the 245-255 range.

I have become pretty good at the firework game and here are my tips:

1) practice as much as you can.
2) Having sound on does help me. You can hear a firework being shot up into the sky and you can prepare yourself accordingly.
3) NEVER hold the curser directly over the firework, hold it a little to the side or above it or behind it, this way you can see it when it turns into a star, also this helps explode 2 fireworks that are near eachother.
4) this may be the most important tip: get to know each fireworks personality. The red ones tend to explode faster then the rest ( except for the final blue flakey ones ) and the green ones actually start to fall before turning into a star. The directions say explode them at their peak, but this isnt the case.
5) after you play enough you see some patterns, like in the begenning ov level 5, they shoot 5 or 6 right away, and you cannot get flawless on all of them, so explode 4 of them rifght away and wait for the final 2 to turn into stars.
6) if you see the path of fireworks are going to intersect, and may cause problems when exploding one, try to explode one of them right away, and then get flawless on the second one. Its getter to have a good and flawless then a flawless and an oops.
7) memorize the order of the fireworks on the bottom of the screen. this way you dont have to look down at the firework selector each time a new firework comes.

that takes care of the things you can do in the game, but there are some things you can do with your computer to help.
1) For best results use a wired mouse. Some people would disagree, but its a fact that your time lapse from clicking to getting it on screen is shorter with a corded mouse.
2) use an optical mouse for more precision. ( when I switched to use a corded logitech dual optical mouseman, my score jumped 10K instantly, compared to when i was using my optical wireless mouse )
3) have lots of ram, and a good video card. Believe it or not VMK is a system hog, and will run slower on slower machines
4) try not to have another windows open, especially other VMK windows.

hopefully this helps a little. anything else please let me know. GO TEAM USA!!!

For me, it helps to have the music off lol. The sound plays faster than the fireworks reach the "star point" and that gets distracting for me lol. I play an instrument and have always tried to keep a steady pace with the tempo and when to hit the note, so trying to hit the firework going along with the music isn't very smart lol. I always find myself following the tempo of the background music thus causing me to either click too eary or too late. Keeping the music off lets me concentrate more on hitting the firework at "star point" rather than subliminally concentrating on hitting it at the beat of the music lol. Of course this is just me, and this obviously differs from person to person. I am just putting it out there that this may be a cause of distraction for some musicians out there lol. (I didn't realize this was my problem until around 5 months after playing the game lol)

idk if anybody has already said this, but if you notice, right b4 the fireworks go away, they turn into a star. they are stars for about a tenth of a second. this is when u MUST click right away on them, and you will get a "flawless" that is mainly what i look for. also, different types of fireworks break at different times. for example, the purple and gold ones you see in the first round break a lot sooner than the purple swirly ones you see in round 3 of level 1. also, the last type of fireworks that you see in level 5 breaks sooner than any other one, so you really have to pay attention and focus. also, like EVERYONE else said, it takes time and practice. i used to never be able to break 240,000. now i reach over 260,000 each time i play. so yea, practice is one of the key things to do to get better. :thumbsup2

I started out in the 140,000 range and now I get 245000-265,000 each time. Here is what I did:

1) Watch the WDWTigger video to get encouragement and see how it can be done
2) Pay attention to which fireworks need to be clicked quicker vs. slower
3) Play a few games and concentrate on that star at the end instead of your score. Maybe even a few just to watch when they go off instead of actually clicking.
4) Close all other windows
5) My old computer processor was maxed out, and I needed an upgrade anyway. So, now I have an AMD Athlon 64 with a sweet Razer gaming mouse. Unfortunate to say, this made the biggest difference.
6) Dim your screen a little so that you can see the stars better. If it is too bright, the star may get lost in other explosions.
7) Personally, I play better when I am not slouching and my head about a foot away from the screen.
8) Practice, practice, practice

Hang in there! It took me a very long time, but it gets easier the more you play.

Wow !!! You guys are great !!! You have given me a lot of advice and encouragement. I do plan to keep playing and practicing.
The funny thing I just found out today...the ice seems to have melted !!! HaHa !! I played my first game today a few minutes ago 220k, getting closer, and "no ice".. Oh well, I still get 900 points per game, better than ghosts even. I have noticed that I get more "flawless" then before I wrote this last night.
Sound off or on? Will have to try that too. But, thank you all so much !! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

That's probably why I mentioned turning the music off. I didn't understand
why it was distracting me so badly, but your theory sounds as good as any!

The music helps me actually and here is the list of what is fastest to longest

Fastest:
red planet
light blue twinkle at the end
Dark Blue figure at the end

Normal:
Purple figure beginning
the other beginning figure
Yellow firework earned in Tomorrowland

Long:
Pink circles
Green firework earned in Frontierland

Did I miss anything?
