Castle Decorations?

On our last trip, Cindy's Castle had a lot of gold add-ons and decorations. It looked really nice, but I was wondering if these are still on or did WDW take them down after the Happiest Celebration on Earth? After that giant hand was added permanantly to SE I was wasn't sure what happened to the decorations on the castle. Any help would be great. Thank you!

The gold decorations are gone. The castle does have a fresh paint job, though. It's still beautiful!

I was hoping they would keep the decorations. I absolutely love the castle, and it is sooooo beautiful, but really liked the different characters around the castle. Didn't care for the mirror too much.

Wonder what they will do next?

I agree that the characters were really neat. Especially Peter Pan at the top. The mirror I will definitely not miss.

I personally hate when they alter the castle in any way. Yes, I thought that the gold decorations were pretty, if they were on any old castle. The only way I want to see THE castle is the way it was the first time I saw it as a little girl in 1973!

I liked some of the gold characters, too, but could have done without the mirror.

Let's just hope they never do anything as atrocious as that 25th Birthday cake decoration. We just saw pictures of that the other day, and we were trying to explain to our DDs that that was The Castle under all that pink (PINK!) fluff.

Our DD8 just shook her head in that worldly way they sometimes do :rotfl:

1) You are indeed lucky.
2) We lived through a vacation with "The Cake".
3) Boy, was it ever ugly (in our opinion).
4) I am sorry, but I am a castle-purist.
5) Change whatever else you want, but leave my castle alone.

NOTE: It was so ugly, that WDW had to give refunds of thousands of dollars to many people. Folks booked their wedding in the GF Weeding Pavilion, so they could see the castle behind the minister. Instead, they saw "the cake". Many wedding parties asked for and received refunds for the pavilion charges. This included North American guests as well as foreign guests (such as Japanese who prized the event and the view).

My DH and I survived a brief visit with the "CAKE" too, and it just bummed me out everytime it came into view.

I didn't find the gold decorations to be so offensive, but I can certainly appreciate the Castle Purists angle.

I'm always entertained by how Disney recycles things, or puts things they've made aside when they change their minds and then reuse them somewhere else. . .boy, I sure hope they didn't save that cake decoration, unless it can be reconfigured into a moon bounce for rental!!
