A friend of mine runs a Chevron station on the coast near Galveston, and makes a decent living. But his passion is fishing in the surf of the Gulf of Mexico. Unfortunately he is horrid at surf fishing.
One unsuccessful evening as twilight was falling, he was tangling his line (as ususal) and casting only a few feet into the surf (as usual) and catching nothing (as ususal). Suddenly, he was frozen with terror as an old grizzled creature emerged from the frothy surf and approached him. It had the look of a female.
She spoke softly, and said "I have watched your passion and lack of skill, and I think I can help you". He was immediately put at ease, and the old woman taught him to cast with great touch, and soon he was truly at ease with his rod and tackle. "You're going to be alright now. I'm going back", she said. And she started to return into the surf. "Who are you?" he cried out. As she returned to the sea, she replied "Just an old Broad".... and she was gone.
He continued (with great) success to cast and fish well into the night. Later he could hardly sleep with the thrilling thoughts of his new skills. The next morning he could not resist the call of the ocean. So instead of opening for business, he hung a sign on his gas mart door, that said...
