Has anyone successfully gotten a passport stamp at Castaway Cay? My understanding is you can give your passport to Guest services and they will ask customs to do it for you, and the stamp says Marsh Harbors Bahamas. I wanted to see if anyone had tried this before doing it myself next week.

i never have, but I did get a passport stamp at one of the stops in Canada . . but I think it was more of a 'tourist' stamp? It was at an information desk and certainly not a uniformed immigration dude. I thought why not? But have since read that 'tourist' stamps in your passport can actually invalidate it. So, just make sure that if there IS an option that it's 'official'.

Found the article:
Souvenir stamps can invalidate passports

Thats insteresting... I had a few and luckily it never stopped me from traveling but... I ran out of pages in mine last time, and we found you cannot add pages after the fact anymore. So when we replaced it I got the extra pages AND will never "waste" space again. This is all the more reason not to...!

I asked for the 'double pages' the last time I renewed my passport. But with the EU and electronic immigration, I am not doing very well with my stamps. Didn't get an entrance OR an exit stamp in Australia . . in fact, I didn't even talk to a real person. . . .

We have a ton of the "tourist" stamps in ours. We always flip to the back of the passport and ask them to use those pages. No one has ever looked at those pages for entry/exit to a country and as long as everything else is in order, they shouldn't care.

I'm glad it hasn't been an issue for you, but it could be. Perhaps consider getting a travel journal for non-official stamps.

The world is changing fast and this practice seems to be one of the things I would think twice about. I wish I had never gotten the stamp in Canada. Seemed "innocent" at the time. Immigration folks hold ALL the power.
