Thinking about booking a late October possibly November cruise 4 night Bahamas, but how is the water will it be too cold to let the kids enjoy the beach? Thanks in advance

When you first dip your toes into the water it does feel a bit cool. But once we started to move around we quickly acclimated to the temperature and this was just snorkeling. I would think if your going to be in the swimming area climbing around, sliding and jumping from the water structures you will get use to it even faster.

We were there the last week of November.

The water is cooler, but it's easy to get used to.

The kids didn't care one bit and were running in and out of the water.

The water temps will still be above 75º which most people find tolerable. It also depends on the air temps. The water will feel cooler if the day is cloudy or chilly. Personally, as a native Floridian, I find the water too chilly under 80º. But, I have seen folks from Wisconsin and Michigan in the ocean in February!

We we're there this past November and it was a little too cold for me and my wife but the kids didn't mind it.

Where are you from?
Yes, we Wisconsin folks do swim in the icy water! But As for me I swim in Florida during those ice cold months. We felt the beach was packed when we were there day after Thanksgiving in 2010. We snorkeled at St. Thomas or Saint Maarten that week also and found the snorkeling at Castaway Cay a little chillier. But we were fighting quite a current at the time.

We also went during New Year’s 2014/15 and found it a little chilly the beach was empty.

This South Dakota family has been twice in November (2014 and 2015) and once in January (2017). The water felt great to us every time. :)

This....is...the answer...I've been in December twice and thought the water was a bit chilly but nice
BUT I grew up in New England and am used to Atlantic Ocean temps
I think you’ll find you can spend time in the water then with no problem. Maybe not stay in as long, but the water does stay warm since it’s just getting into fall.
Sounds like a good time if the weather holds out. Our trip was very choppy.

We're Texans and have enjoyed swimming and Pelican Plunge at Castaway Cay during three late December trips in the past three years. Each time, the air was very warm, and the water was a bit chilly. The water only takes seconds to adjust to once you're fully immersed. And because the air is warm, it feels fine to get out of the water, too. So swimming out to the Pelican Plunge water slide, climbing out of the water onto the landing, waiting wet in line for several minutes, then sliding back into the water, were all pleasant experiences for us. We didn't feel cold or uncomfortable (and I'm the type who easily feels cold & always wants to keep things warm).

People who only like to wade in the water up to their knees or waist probably have a harder time with cooler water, as they never immerse & let their body adjust to it.
