We were on the 3/16 7 night cruise aboard the Magic booked through DCL. We have booked again for the 12/28 cruise. Do I need to contact DCL to become members of the Castaway Club? Or will I receive information automatically? Also, what are the benefits of the Castaway Club besides special check-in?

I'm a member of Castaway Club and I am thoroughly disappointed.

According to DCL personnel, I became one once I booked my trip with DVC. However, no one told me. After sailing, DCL personnel told me that I would receive a package in the mail telling me about Castaway Club. Well, that was nearly a year ago and over 10 phone calls to Castaway Club. Every time I call they tell me that my package can take up to 12 weeks. When I explain, they tell me that a package is on the way.

From what I hear, first timers join Castaway Club (free) and receive up to $150 in on-board charges. Returning members receive a credit as well, but since I am both, I have seen nor received nothing. I do however, have a membership number, but with no paperwork, I can only assume no privilages.

The cruise is fabulous, the Club is a waste of time.

Originally, the Castaway Club would send out the invitation to join soon after you completed your first sailing. If you returned the short questionnaire or called the 800 number, they would process your registration. They have been having problems with sending out info and packets lately.

If you have your Membership number by calling them and asking for it, you have the most important part.

Here's a link to the Website info on it:
DCL Castaway Club Benefits

They used to offer a returning cruiser onboard credit offer of $50 to $200 if you booked and saiked within 18 months of the previous cruise, not sure if they still do that or not.

If you have previously sailed, be sure to have your TA or DCL note on your reservation what your membership number is so that you will have the Castaway Club gift in your cabin and so you'll be invited to the reception with the Captain and some of the officers, where they serve drinks and appetizers.

We never received anything from the Castaway Club after our first cruise but we were invited to the little get together with the captain on our second cruise. I did hear of other Castaway Club members talking about a gift in their cabin but we never received any gift. Our third cruise is coming up on May 19th... I already spoke with my TA about the gift.. she contacted Castaway Club and said everything is all set. I will let you know how we make out.

when you book you need to tell them your cc number to get your credit and gift. we are getting 200.00 shipboard credit in Dec.

Hi Ann,
Before we booked our vacation (which was in March) we asked about a shipboard credit with our CC# and they told us there wasn't any. We have booked two category 5 staterooms for May 19th and they tell me that we get nothing from Castaway Club. But.. we did get $50 each room shipboard credit through our Magic Kingdom card or whatever it's called now. Maybe I should call my TA and look into it. Or maybe it was the date of your booking that allowed you the shipboard credit. We tried because I had read it somewhere.. but we didn't get it.
Thanks for the info..
Rhonda

I would definately call someone because you should have gotten your credit. When we went last Dec. we got 200.00 (we were return crusiers from Cat.5) and when i booked last week for this coming Dec. they told me I was getting another 200.00.
