Castaway Club Sling Bags

I'm looking for a backpack for our upcoming first cruise and thought the Castaway Club sling bags I've seen on Marketplace look nice. Does anyone know if they are durable and at all water resistant?

I've been lightly using my sling bags for years with no issues. I would call them pretty durable. I would not call them water resistant, any more than any other typical backpack. I sometimes carry an ipad around, so I wish they had some padding on the bottom (they don't).

I have used them at WDW. I would not rough them up-lol, but they are not bad. As stated above, not any more water resistant than your average backpack.

You could always spray Scotchgard on the bag:

Before every winter, I spray this on our jackets and coats, to keep the melting snow from penetrating.

Our bag is 3 years old and has become our Disney park bag. It does the job for carrying around sunscreen, ponchos, and sunglasses but it’s not a super hardy hiking/waterproof bag. It has a small hole so it will be replaced by the new one we hopefully get on our March cruise

This is what I was going to say. It's definitely not enough to hold all our stuff for pool/beach days.

I would just use a backpack/bag you already have and not buy one specifically for the cruise. I have found that I need different size bags depending on the activities. For example, a larger bag for pool/beach stuff. For just going around the ship during the day, I typically just carried my phone and water bottle and went back to my room for whatever I needed. At night I sometimes used a clutch. You might want to bring a bag to dinner with stuff to entertain kids/a jacket in case they get cold.

Plus, if you ever go on another cruise, you'll get one of the sling bags for free.

I'm planning on bringing ours to Alaska in August. We'll have one per person and it's big enough for a rain jacket, cellphone, etc. That being said, I fully expect to wear it *under* the rain jacket, as I don't expect it to repel water at all. I've got some Scotchguard for shoes. I'll try it out.

How soon do you need the bag(s)? I have two and will probably be getting another sling when we are on the Dream this month. If you will be at WDW before your cruise, I am there often and could drop them off to you or ship it. You are welcome to have all of them!

No kidding!! I always try to find a first time cruiser to give our sling bag to! So far, I’ve been able to give away two. We have three already … no need for more!

We are relatively new to DCL, already set for life (and the next couple lifetimes) on sling bags... would love a beach towel.
