Early in his career, he was a welder on several Navy ships back when Philly had a thriving Navy Yard. He's always been interested in that aspect of ships.
yes, It was on a 8 day cruise and during the meet and great with the ships officers for gold and platinum. While everyone else was just drinking and leaving, we stayed and talking with the officers. I met the captain and asked for a tour of the bridge. He said he would arrange one once we pull into port. I asked if he needed my name and room number. He just smiled and said it was a small ship and he could find me. The next day we had a note with instructions on where to meet.
That's one thing DCL doesn't do that was the absolute highlight of the 1 Carnival cruise we did, the Behind the Scenes tour. They took us to the engine room, laundry (which was amazing) galley, bridge, all over the place. We all got a special hat and they had a fruit platter delivered to our stateroom beforehand as a welcome thing. It was expensive, but so worth it! Wish DCL would do that.Dh would LOOOOVE an engineering tour.
