we booked directly with dcl and gave them our cc #, we asked if that meant we would get a discount since we used our #, she said no. what is the perk to using it then? will we get any thing for using it?

Yep, you'll get a gift in your stateroom (currently a towel and pins) and an invitation to a cocktail party. There is also a separate check-in line at the port, but sometimes it's more crowded than the other lines due to the ever expanding number of repeaters.
