Is the stateroom gift still the large DCL towel and 2 pins?

Thanks

We just returned Thursday on the Wonder and the gift is still the towel and 2 pins.

Yep, it has been the towel and pins for quite a long time now. We have a whole shelf in our closet filled with those towels (after 43 cruises!). I miss the old blue bags...we had a few but sold them on Ebay, and the two that I kept have gotten beat up now. Sure wish I had saved at least one more.

I get two stateroooms for my family, do we get one towel for each of our rooms. Also, can you buy extra towels so the kids don't fight, I have four kids.

One per stateroom, and they are not sold on the ship. They ae exclusive to repeat sailers.

This will conceivably create a small nuclear meltdown this summer ... we'll be on the Aug repo cruise ... we're guessing the CC gift will be "different" (kind of like the Antigua fleece blanket was different) ... we have a room in our group where there are two families (moms & daughters) sharing the room ... both are CC members (repeat cruisers) ... in that instance they need ONE PER FAMILY in the room, not one per room. :guilty:

The one per family thing would be great..but it doesn't work that way, still one per stateroom.

Not to get anyone upset -- but I've cruised DCL 3 times already - and have the 4th booked and almost paid off (August Repo Cruise :cheer2: )

But on 2 of the 3 previous sailings - I sailed with friends - 4 people in a Cat 6 Verandah.

The first time -- I watched with envoy the nice tote bag they received ...

The second time - since all four of us were Castaway Cay members - they brought one towel and a set of pins. I walked down to guest services - and pointed out that in essence we were two groups sharing the cabin -- and we were all repeat cruisers. Guest services was very nice & sent another towel with pins.

Third time was no problem - since we had our own Cat 7 verandah --

So -- it can't hurt to ask nicely -- you might be surprised and get an extra.
Yes - I'm spoiled -- love my verandah's -- even have one for the repo cruise.

We're spoiled by verandahs too (cat 7 on the Aug repo for us too) ... I hope that going down to guest services will work in August, because it'll be all bad otherwise ... if the gift were a beach towel, they'd buy a towel in Mickey's Mates (even if it weren't the same) and split the cost of that towel, and one of them would be the CC towel and the other would get the purchased towel ... but if the CC gift is something else (i.e. fleece blanket) that cannot be even remotely duplicated by a purchase in Mickey's Mates, it won't work.

I'm also concerned about any "gifts" we'll receive as part of the repo cruises (rumors about lithos have been circulating) ... I'm guessing those will be one per stateroom as well, and that'll be a real bugger when there's more than one family (that don't live together and aren't even related) in the same cabin.

This could be fun.... :rolleyes1

We face the same problem on the repo cruise as we are three friends sharing a cabin. But, I do not think everyone going down to guest service will help...I think the above poster was just lucky.....we have asked on several occasions if it were possible to get another towel and were politely told no.

They surely will not give everyone that asks one, especially if the repo cruise is a "special" gift. Although, come to think of it.... on the maiden voyage sailing of the Magic which I was on, they had a special framed litho (one per cabin) but so many people complained as many people were sharing with friends and who get the gift, that as we were leaving the ship DCL CM's were handing out the special framed litho to everyone.....so our family got six....the initial one per cabin and then one each for the five of us!!! So you never know!!!

Ok, if you do a search on eBay under castaway beach towel (not sure if I am allowed to give out auction number) you will see an auction where the seller states the following:

"This is the castaway Club Beach towel get them NOW as the are going to

Change this to an other item on the Magic in May on or about the 14th.."

This is not my auction and I do not know if this statement is true and/or how this seller would know that the gift is going to change. Just thought I'd post this info.

It is possible that the gift will change for the repo cruises and/or the CA cruises.....they may go back to the towels when the ship comes home or change the gift entirely (it is about time for a change).

Thanks for posting.....I have a few CC towels...hmmm....

MJ,

I think it'll depend on how many bloomin' towels they still have in storage somewhere. :goodvibes If not many, they might think about changing the gift when the Magic returns "home." If tons are still in the "secret warehouse" then we may be stuck with beach towels for an eternity.

Just a note about the "special" cruises having different gifts. We sailed on the 10 day special holiday cruise and got the beach towels for CC gifts. They did have some other gifts for Christmas, but the CC gift was the same, not some special blanket. Were we disappointed?? NOPE we were on a 10 day cruise at Christmas and a gift is just that, a gift.

When we booked our cruise for July, 2006 our TA told us that the CC gift was going to be a Disney beach bag. He did not tell me when they were planning to switch over to that gift, though.

Castway Club Gift Will change on May 14, 2005

and From What we hear it is a nice one.. The west coast cruisers Get the change.. that would Be on the Magic Dont know if the wonder will change..
So Dont the Repo Folks.. I Think.. peter

And It Was Not A Beach Bag...

I can't imagine that a TA this far out would know what the return cruiser gift is going to be over a year from now....it very well may be a beach bag (as they have had before) but I would like to know where he got his info!!!

Agree 100%....even though I would like to see a change in gifts it certainly would not keep me from cruising with DCL and it is one of the least important aspects of the cruise for me!!! Just get me on the ship!!!
