We took our adult daughter and her hubby on a cruise last year.
DW and I got our Platinum lanyard, DD got her gold and new hubby didn't get anything

We gave the kids our platinum ones (we have lots) because we don't wear them around the ship. DW has her small traveling purse and I have these new fanggled things called pockets!!
I never realized the "people" pay attention to the color of your lanyard. Other guests would randomly stop them and ask them questions about the ship- because they "had cruised" so often. Even the crew would interact with them "differently" - asking about their prior cruises. DD obviously could answer questions (having been on all of the ships) and about cruising, but her hubby was at a bit of a loss. --Who Knew!!-- I didn't!
