we always reserve my son's float in advance as well as the snorkle equitpment. (never did a bike) but to be honest they seem to always have more than enough to go around, even when we return them there seems to be a lot still in stock.
Nobody has ever reported that they've run out of inventory at Castaway Cay, so that's not really an issue. There are, however, two benefits for reserving ahead of time.
<ol><li>If you book through the Shore Excursions desk, your payment is taken care of. That saves some time when you go to collect your rental.
<li>If you plan to rent <b>snorkel equipment</b>, a <b>float</b>, and a <b>bicycle</b>, you can save money by booking the "<i><b>Castaway Cay Getaway Package</b></i>". A limited number of these packages are offered at the start of every cruise. The package provides all three of these amenities for a price that is lower than if you purchased all three of these amenities seperately.</ol>
if we reserved the raft/package and decided not to get into the water? I am really concerned that the water will be too chilly to swim. But I am all for trying to make everything as easy as possible.....
I would not rent the raft in advance if you're not sure you're going to use it. We got my daughter one of the big clear inner tubes that day on Castaway Cay with no problems at all. The water was cool to me but fine for her.
Out of 27 cruises, there was only one where they ran out. That was a very long time ago (I think when they only had mats...now they have inner tubes too), so I suspect they beefed up the inventory so that the problem doesn't arise anymore.
