Castaway Cay

I am trying to make plans for our day at Castaway Cay. I will be the person getting our spot on the beach for the day. We have 2 kids...ages 9 and 6. ideally I would like to have an umbrella, and beach chairs and be within a resonable walking distance to refreshments and bathrooms. Is there a specific spot I should shoot for ( ie...go toward the volleyball nets) .

Lastly..has anyone used a 2 way radio once on the island to communicate thier location to their party. I figure if my DH and I pick a time to meet..11:00ish...I can turn on my radio and he can begin to call me once he is on the island then I can direct him toward where I am sitting. Thanks Again!

pretty much anywhere you pick is convenient. If you get off the ship early enough you can have your pick of places. If you get off later, the closer spots to the ship are ususally taken.

I suggest going about mid-way, right before you get to the Playset in the water. It is convenient to Cookies BBQ and the restrooms.

We have been to CC 5 times already and never had to scramble for an umbrella or chairs. We have gone in the Winter and Summer months with heavy crowds.

This past time in Feb we stayed very near the snorkeling lagoon. A close walk to shop, a bit further for food and rest rooms.

Yes, the 2-way Family Radio Service radios are perfect for that purpose.

We were one of the first few families in line to get off the ship and my husband and another guy walked ahead of the pack to find spots. Don't take the tram, especially if it's just starting to load. I had him get a hammock and chairs with an umbrella right in front of the water play area. It seems the hammocks only go about that far. I didn't see many of them after that point. There are plenty of chairs, but the droves of people that came later had to get a 2nd or 3rd row spots, no umbrellas or hammocks.
Our 2 ways worked great there. My parents started off at Serenity Bay and were able to communicate with us fine.
