Castaway Cay - time to go ashore?

Hi - trying to figure out what we want to do on our Castaway Cay day coming up in mid-October. I really want to get a cabana. I'm pretty set on that. And my wife thinks we should do the parasailing. I know that will be fun as well. Just trying to figure out the timing of it all.

What time can we get off the ship to go to our cabana? I'm thinking of doing a morning parasailing, but want to make sure we still have plenty of time after that to enjoy the cabana, beach, lunch, etc, and possibly snorkel or bike ride or whatever else hits us.

So for now I think that's the primary question - what time can we leave the ship to start our Castaway Cay day in a cabana?

Have you reserved a cabana? If not, they are very difficult to get unless you are a concierge or Platinum guest. All ashore time is usually around 8:30. We did parasailing and it is very fun. It does get canceled often though due to the winds.

thank you for the reply! This is our first cruise (of any sort) and we are doing concierge. Our cruise isn't until October, so we haven't been able to reserve yet. Thanks for letting me know the time. That will certainly help us with our planning! And that is the one hesitation I had was planning parasailing in October near the end of hurricane season. But I guess if it gets canceled, we'll just have more time on the beach!

You will love DCL and Castaway Cay. Enjoy your cruise!

The time varies depending on when you dock. The earliest we've been allowed ashore is 8:00 and the latest 10:00 after making several unsuccessful docking attempts, (during rougher water and winds).

I've never had a cabana so I don't know if they let those with reservations off any earlier or through a different spot, however if they say all ashore is 830 I would personally wait until about 850. The crowd in the lobby of people waiting to get off to make a dash for spots can get crazy and if I had a cabana knowing I had a great spot I would wait the crowd out instead of dealing with it all...just my opinion anyhow.

I would think that in October sailing concierge you should have a pretty good chance of securing a cabana.

Enjoy your cruise!
