Has anyone booked their teen for The Wild Side Teen Adventure on CC? We are sailing in December and my 14yr old DD is trying to decide whether or not to book this excursion. We are not traveling with any other teens so she would not know anyone unless she meets someone on the ship.
Thanks!

My son has done this excursion twice. Positive reviews from him. The adventure is headed by the counselors from the teen club on the ship. They tour Castaway Cay by bike/kayak and spend some time snorkeling. They return to the teen club on Castaway Cay. We didn't see our son for most of the day.

My son makes friends easily so he was able to enjoy this experience with the friends he made on the ship.

Good luck with your decision.

My daughter and son did this excursion a couple times across the years they cruised as teens and they both loved it. They really enjoyed the variety of things they did...kept moving to different activities so nothing got "old."

Before we left on our cruise, I asked my 14 year old daughter if she wanted me to sign her up for this. At that time, her answer was "no". Once we were on the cruise, though, she made friends with some of the other teens in Vibe who were going on the Teens Only excursion. I was able to book a spot for her while we were on the ship. She ended up really enjoying herself.

Both of our daughters have done the wild side teen adventure and loved it. They highly recommend it!

My son did it two weeks ago. He went into it not knowing anyone and made 2 friends. He went snorkeling (the teen group was getting into the snorkel lagoon the same time we were, so we saw him briefly) then a bike ride and a high speed boat ride. He said they stopped somewhere out in the ocean and let the kids get off and swim. He said that was fun. Overall he enjoyed it. We missed him though! He didn't get back until almost 1. I assume he had lunch as he came back not hungry. I forgot to ask and he is at school right now. Don't expect to spend much time with your teen on CC if you have them do it! We got back on the boat shortly after he got back. He was tired and a storm was blowing in.

My granddaughter (17) has done it several times and loved it. And yes, they eat lunch there on CC, also.

This is our plan for our DD14 next month. We will sign her up if she meets people she wants to go with. I'm curious to see how many teens will actually be on a cruise at the end if October...

This is at the top of my DD's to-do list for our next cruise (she'll be 14) so I'm happy to hear positive reviews! She's really looking forward to it!

I am going on the wild side teen excursion and I would like to know how other teens liked it and what to expect on the island. I have been cruising with this cruise line before but I have never done the excursion since I have just become of age. :)

I am glad that everyone has great reviews for this excursion and I am very excited to do the excursion.

My son did this excursion on our last cruise and absolutely loved it! He plans to do it again on our cruise next fall. Like a PP said, you won't see much of them on CC if they do it, but they will most likely be blissfully happy. I mean, being realistic, how many teens want to spend time hanging with mom and dad anyhow? My DS is not a super outgoing kid, but he managed to make plenty of friends in board quickly and spent 85% of his time in Vibe. He is very excited to go back. If you look at my profile pic, you will see he is not even in the photo. He was at Vibe. Lol

I am glad your son had a great time!

Odd question here...my 14yo DD has Asperger's and due to sensory and balance issues, never learned to ride a bike. Could she opt out of that part of the day if she wanted to?

From all I have read, the key to the kids meeting people is for them to go to the first night meeting/activity. It seems that's when the friendships/mini-groups get formed. And it seems like those who don't go to that first night thing are the ones who feel like they didn't really meet people.

We only saw our teen when he was coming in at night, sleeping in in the morning or in the MDR because the rule was we all eat together every night. Any other time we saw him, it was in passing on the ship or at CC with his new friends.

Yes, ds said that were told that did not have to participate in any activity if they chose not too. He did not take his swimsuit and stayed on the boat during the snorkeling part. He and his friends had decided that they wanted to relax on the boat instead.

My daughter now 16, is on the spectrum, and we have never had any issues they have always been accommodating. We included it in the notes on the reservation about her being on ASD. WE haven’t done this excursion but was wondering the same thing as she has sensory issues too.

My DSs have done it a few times and enjoyed it very much, although my small, just turned 14 yo did have trouble keeping up during the snorkeling when he lost a flipper his first time out. ;) He has enjoyed it since then though.

The past few times we didn't book it in advance. The kids decided upon meeting other kids that they wanted to do it and they were able to sign up on the ship, no problem.
