Any reviews of this? As I'm looking into it more, I saw it says ages 8 & up?! Wondering why when even the snorkeling is 6 and up. We have 2 kiddos - 6 & 9. Are they strict on the age requirements? thinking of doing this rather than the snorkeling excursion.

Well, the snorkeling is done in a protected area. The sandbar is exposed to larger ocean currents.

Yes, DCL is strict about their age limits. It's an insurance thing. The DCL reservation system will not even allow you to select anyone underage to participate in the excursion (remember, they know how old everyone is).

Ok. I was thinking of the snorkeling excursion by boat - curious why they can start at 6 for that open water excursion but no sandbar :(

I would still think the snorkeling would be in a more quiet (wave action-wise) location than the sandbar.

never done it but I have read a few reviews and people said dont waste your time to go out and sit on a sandbar. You are missing all the other stuff to do at CC

I don't even need anyone reviews to do see this is a poor excursion. The fact that you go out there and park at a sand bar puts me off. There aren't any loungers, there isn't any shade, you get a beverage on the ride back. Sorry, I'd rather sit at Serenity Beach, which is a giant sandbar, for free. Plenty of good snorkeling for kids to see in the lagoon if you do it early in the day.

Thats funny, I was thinking we have to try it and that it looks awesome! I thought I read a review that mentioned it a while back and said they really liked it. Maybe it was for a different one.

I think if it is something you would be interested in doing, then do it! If so many people thought it was a poor excursion, they wouldn't offer it (at least I hope they wouldn't).
There is a difference in the rigid hull excursion which includes snorkeling. Link.
The sandbar visit is just that, a visit to a sandbar. Link.

The review thread you posted appears to be the rigid hull.
