Castaway Cay question

If (big if) I have some of the allowed beer I bring onboard left by the time we reach Castaway Cay, I assume that I'll be allowed to take it to the beach.

Technically no, because what you bring onboard with you is supposed to only be consumed in your stateroom. The only exception by policy is a bottle of wine taken to an MDR for dinner, where they would charge a corking fee.

I believe that's wine. No mention of beer in that. I'm also going to be bringing a couple of six packs of Non Alcoholic beer as there is no limit to that and I figure it'll help me save money.

From the DCL website:
  • Alcohol brought on board may not be consumed in any lounge or public area.
but it also says:
Guests wishing to consume wine or champagne that they have brought on board in one of the dining rooms will be charged a corking fee of $25.00 per bottle.

I would guess, since you're bringing "Non Alcoholic" you would be fine.

I guess I'll find out. :) Better to ask forgiveness than permission in this case.

so you can charge to your room with your (room key?) for alcoholic drinks and souvenirs?
Yes. The ship is a cashless system, everything gets charged to your onboard account. Usually they would scan the KTTW card (room key) but it sounds like before those are available they'll simply ask for your room number. When they put it in (or scan the card) your picture pops up to confirm the right person. But still check your folio for charges because sometimes things get mixed up.

If traveling without kids, you have the option to eat lunch at Serenity Bay. The menu is a little different, including ribeye? steak and fish? (I always get the steak.). I like the beach feel in the seating area - sand on the ground, picnic tables with umbrellas and trees overhead.

If you’d like a preview of what’s for lunch, do an image search for “dcl serenity bay lunch”. Lots of photos of what they serve (and have been serving since my first cruise in 2007). You will also see results for the family buffet, Cookies and Cookies Too (designed to handle larger crowds, same food).

I never knew that there was a different menu there and I am definitely going to check that out! I'm so glad you mentioned it! This will be our first cruise where my kids are old enough that I won't worry about them being without me so that I can do the Serenity Bay. I've only seen the adult-only area from the tram turnaround. 😂🤣😂🤣
