Castaway Cay docking question

I've read that in the winter they only manage to dock at Castaway Cay about 50% of the time. My husband and son are "mechanically inclined" and I think would enjoy watching the captain try to dock. Where is the best place to watch and what time? Thanks, Linda

Deck 9, as far forward as you can go. On whichever side of the ship is facing the dock. You can see the outdoor portion of the bridge that extends out over the edge of the ship. There is an outdoor control panel where they do the actual docking procedures.

The winter months are, indeed, the hardest, but the percentage of misses is not nearly that high. In 27 Disney cruises (most in the fall and winter) we have never missed CC once.

ion my last DCL cruise, we had stateroom 8000. and every time we docked somewhere, we were right next to the bridge and could see the captain overseeing the docking of the ship. It was neat!

FYI: Let's debunk the rumor that the Magic can only dock at CC 50% of the time during the winter. Someone did an informal survey and came up with a 5% (1 in 20 chance) failure to dock rate for CC. It is probably much less than that because folks are probably more likely to reported failures than successes.

I hesitate to say this because I don't want to jinx our upcoming cruise on the Magic, but both times we went in the winter, the weather was fabulous at CC (knock on wood).

Don't let an incorrect rumor affect anyone's planning.
