Based on the trip reports and DIS members letting me know, I was able to account for 72% of the cruises in 2003, or 111 of 154. Of the 111 for which I have a result, 107 (96.4%) were able to dock at Castaway Cay. Again, pretty good odds.

Broken down by ship:

Magic: 42-43 (97.7%)
Wonder: 65-68 (95.6%)

I counted the 12/18 Wonder as a "no" since the ship docked in the afternoon. I was actually able to account for all but 7 of the Magic trips (43 of 50). It looks like there will almost always be DISers present on a cruise.

Here's wishing for good luck at CC in 2004. Happy New Year to all!

Thank you for your hard work. With all the reports I've seen about not being able to dock at CC, it is nice to know that they almost always are able to dock.

Again, Thank You!

Denae

which cruises are you missing? Putting out a list on this thread may fill in the remaining gaps!

So far we're batting 1000 (2 for 2)!

Do you know what month had the most non dockings at CC?
Just wondering.

I would like to know this info, too, as I was on the unable to dock New Years Wonder:rolleyes: last year.

I do have monthly stats (Excel is pretty handy). Keeping in mind that I don't have an equal representation of the months, it appears that December is the month most likely to miss the Castaway Cay call. With that said, I personally am 2-2 in December (both on the Magic, which hasn't missed in December, as far as I can tell). The monthly misses break down this way:

Jan - 2
Feb - 2
Mar - 0
Apr - 1
May - 0
Jun - 0
Jul - 0
Aug - 0
Sep - 1
Oct - 2
Nov - 0
Dec - 3

In 2003, the Magic's only recorded miss was on the 1/18 western. On the 4/5 eastern, it docked late, but I counted that as a "yes" because it wasn't that late. The Wonder missed on the 10/23, 12/4, and 12/18 3-day trips. It had to come back on the second day in order to dock on the 1/5 4-day, but that counted as a "yes."

The Magic cruises I've missed for 2003 are: 2/15 (w), 4/12 (w), 6/14 (e), 8/16 (w), 10/25 (w), 11/8 (w), and 12/27 (e), which hopefully is tied up to Castaway Cay as I type this.

How 'bout some of those lucky cruisers like the 11/23/03 Western cruisers that were able to dock twice??? Once Monday and then again Friday??

In 2003, CC for the Western was on 6/13 Friday (not 6/14 Saturday) and we did dock without incident.

The Magic cruises I've missed for 2003 are: 2/15 (w), 4/12 (w), 6/14 (w), 8/16 (w), 10/25 (w), 11/8 (w), and 12/27 (e), which hopefully is tied up to Castaway Cay as I type this.

You're right. I was referring to the 6/14 eastern. That was my mistake. All the dates listed (including the monthly totals) are based on the embarkation date, rather than the date on which the ship is scheduled to call at Castaway Cay. So the cruise which is (hopefully) at Castaway Cay right now counts as a December cruise (12/27/03). Not perfect, I know, but it's easier to track that way. The CC days vary on the 4-day cruises, depending on whether or not Freeport was part of the itinerary, and I don't have any reliable info on which cruises called at Freeport. In addition, people often refer to their cruises by the embarkation date when posting trip reports, so I just went with that.

I do have 6/14 as an eastern trip, just messed up when making that list. Your cruise would have been the 6/7 western, which I have as docking succesfully.

Not quite sure how to read this (is 6/14 the day of CC or the day of sailing?), but we were on the 6/14 Eastern, which did dock at CC on Saturday 6/20. So between GenieDana and ourselves, I think you can mark 6/14 as a successful docking.

Thanks for the stats!

What Wonder cruises are you missing?

Could you consider putting this information in tabular form on the web? - although I think it would be helpful to separate the wonder and magic stats...
Let us know what cruises you are missing and I bet you could have close to exact data!
Thanks so much for this info I think it is useful and helpful since so many times it seems like there are many more misses when one reads the boards...

I don't currently have a place to host this info on the web, so I figured I would post updates to the boards occasionally. I'm missing quite a few Wonder trips from 2003, but here's a quick list. Again, the date listed is the embarkation day, rather than the day at Castaway Cay:

Jan. 2, 16, 30
Feb. 20, 23
Mar. 27, 30
Apr. 3, 10, 13, 20, 24
May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
Jun. 8
Jul. 10, 13, 24, 27
Aug. 7, 10, 14, 21, 28, 31
Oct. 9
Nov. 13, 20, 27, 30
Dec. 21, 25, 28

You mentioned you'd like the numbers separated by ship. How so? I can break them down just about any way you'd like.

Wow! That's pretty good odds!

Thanks so much for the hard work you put into this!

I believe I remember her saying before that when the ship docks at CC twice in one cruise(planned or not planned, that is just counted as a yes, not 2 yes's. Therefore 11/23 is a yes. But it does not skew results by counting 2 yes for 1 cruise. If I am wrong, please let me know.

Well, the odds look good overall-but I'm not liking the odds for Feb. :(

We docked at Castaway Cay twice in Febuary on the DVC Member Cruise so I wouldn't worry too much about that month. Both days were picture perfect (though the water was a bit cool for our taste).

I have web space so that's not a problem - seems to me that Barb and Tony or Dave would like to link to this info

I would suggest a table for each boat listing the numer of cruises that month and the number of misses at CC. Then you can list the cruise dates that you are missing.

Let me know how I can help

BTW - July 13 wonder had a terrific day at CC!

THANKS for all you hard work
Barbara
